What are your all time 5 favorite games?
1) Castlevania : Symphony of the Night (PSone)
2) The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion (Xbox 360)
3) Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas (Xbox)
4) God Of War (PS2)
5) Gears of War 1/Gears of War 2 ***Tie*** (Xbox 360) - I love both of these games mainly for the single-player campaigns, have beat them repeatedly over and over, just can't get enough.
It's really hard to pick just five favorite games, but these are the ones that come to mind.
1) Left 4 Dead PC
2) Tales of Symphonia Gamecube
3) Resident Evil 4 Gamecube
4) Super Smash Bros Mellee Gamecube
5) Both the Fire emblem games for Game Boy Advance
1. God of War
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Prince of Persia SoT
4. Metal Gear Solid 2
5. Unreal Tournament 2004
Those titles are my top in my top mainly because of their stories.
Picking just 5 is so freaking hard.
Great Question TC!
1) Gladius (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube)
2) Final Fantasy IV (SNES)
3) Aerobiz (SNES/Genesis)
4) Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (ARC/SNES/Genesis/3do)
5) Fallout 3 (360/PC/PS3)
-Super Mario Bros-->I could just have easily put SMB3 or World here, or replaced other games on the list with those two, but I decided to pick the mario game which made me a fan of the series. It's been debated between friends of mine, as to which one is actually best.
-The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past-->I find myself going back to this game consistently. The longer you wait, the better the play-through. Everything from this game remains top class. The music. The art direction. The pacing. Extremely well done storytelling.
-Super Mario 64-->Same deal as Zelda. Not only is it enjoyable, but it exceeds games being released today. It's like comparing a well made car from the 60s, to one made in the last 5 years. It may not have defogging rear view mirrors, dvd players, or the best stereo system, but it's possible it still drives better.
-Halo 2-->Halo TWO, you say? Yes, two. Why? Well, while I enjoyed playing the first coop campaign, a few of the levels bogged down the overall experience--the library, for one. Now, sure it could be argued that those levels are actually good, if, upon first play-through, you are wondering when the heck this will just end because it's getting repetative, then there's something wrong with that. With Halo 2, I think I went through the game with my brother in 2 days, but probably could have finished it in one sitting. Couple the better designed coop campaign with the best multi player to date, and that's why I put it on the list. Now, I should say that I was unable to go through Halo 3s campaign in coop mode, and that my reason for stating Halo 2s online component as the best to date is because I believe the community was better. Not that it's terrible right now, but the initial reaction to Halo 2s was that people were just having a blast. Obviously, down the road, groups of people would cheat, but it was a far lesser extent. Plus, some of the "cheating"--the sword glitch--were actually kind of cool.
-Snake Eater-->I've hit my fifth allowed game game and no Ocarina of Time? Is it better than Snake Eater? Sure it is. However, I still believe snes Zelda was the overall better package, and would feel bad if I didn't mention a game often times left out. This is the game that got me started in telling people that the drama, characters, and overall story lines in games were exceeding the films being released. Even today, this series shows itself in countless knockoff films and tv shows. I just finished the first Uncharted, and am looking forward to finally playing Metal Gear 4.
5 games really is a short list.
