What can you do in Fallout 4 besides the missions and what's your favorite thing. ?

@jun_aka_pekto:
Really, you can create a town. ?
yup!
Make a town, fill it with merchants and soldiers and townsfolk; create defenses such as turrets, traps, and fences; protect the town from invaders; and so forth. It's actually one of the better parts of the game, imo, if not the most exciting (still fun, though!).

I'm busting your balls but i have to question that. hahahahahaha
Is there a scenario where a nuclear bomb goes off from time to time and you go to an underground shelter to save your self. ?
hmmm not to my knowledge.
You are living far into the future after the bombs have fell, and after the nations of the world have been destroyed. There are no more nukes because they used them all, no air force or rocket command to launch them because there are no nations, etc.
There are mini-nukes, though :D You get to shoot them out of a launcher haha
I wouldn't call them towns. A tiny village, maybe. Establishing supply lines between settlements allow them to share resources.
There is also a limit on how much resources you can expend on a settlement. That means, they can't get bigger than a small village.
You can build your own structures or use prefab (wood or metal) units.

No nukes, but there are nuclear storms that will inflict radiation damage to your character with every lightning strike, until you seek shelter indoors. Also looks pretty rad.
Town building is actually really, really tedious and dull.
Worst thing is, you need to buy LOTS of perks to be able to build best defences and traders and so on. So you'll be able to make the best of the settlements only at the latter parts of the game. (because it's then that you can afford to get those perks) Of course, at that point you no longer need profits or products the settlements could provide you...
So, bit pointless, really.
Also, your settlers are useless in fights, so if you have more than one settlement under your care, you have to travel to them all the time so as to defend them from attackers. Real pain in the butt.
Only fun part of building is creating a floating citadel just for fun at an empty settlement. Since the settlement does not have any residents, it wont get attacked, so it remains your Fortress of Solitude. The south island is good spot for such residence.
You can also build ladders on top of each other and create a climb that is kilometre high. Splendid view. And once youre on top, you can push Piper off and watch her fall for ages! Lol!
And this is ultimately the problem a lot of us had with the game. I did not know I was getting 3 part Minecraft to 1 part Dead Island.
We wanted 3 part Skyrim to 1 part FarCry 3.
You can play the game with a scavenger mentality and skip settlements if you want. I think my nephew finished the game without a network of settlements.
I just happened to like generating my own income.

Sure, but was Bethesda going to cut me a discount?
I paid full price for this. it's like buying a cupcake and taking out the frosting.
Not saying it ended up being a bad game.
I just don't enjoy being sold a hatchback when marketing said I was buying an SUV, for the price of an SUV.
@lucidique: Should've looked at more of the very clearly presented info in the lead up to release then shouldn't you?
Great game.
You mean all the trailers released before hand that showed little to no details on these slick new features?
There was very little on the lack of RPG elements as well as the focus on settlement building.
If I had known, I would not have bought it.
Anyway it seems I am not the only one that feels this way. This is a very general feeling coming from the Fallout fanbase.
Ninja edit : Before I get shredded a new one by the rabbid Fallout 4 fanbase, I should point out that I'm not saying Fallout 4 is a bad game.
What I am saying is that Fallout 4 feels like a sucker punch to the teeth from Bethesda to any fan expecting an actual Fallout RPG out of it.

I got mine for $20. So, I'm happy. I was expecting Fallout 3 gameplay as a minimum and I got it. The rest are a bonus.
I played Fallout 3 again afterwards and I definitely preferred Fallout 4.
