I mean do you read reviews here on Gamespot?

Do you look scores?

Do you look if it's old or new?

Do you look if it's popular?

Do you choose it for it's genre?

Help me please

Thanks

If it's a sequel, then I have at least some idea of what to expect. If it's in one of my favorite genre's, then I also have some idea of what to expect. If I look at reviews (mostly video footage) it's probably for games I haven't heard of, so I want to see what the gameplay might be like. Scores may have some influence, but sometimes they aren't even close to a rating I might give.

Once I find a game that sounds interesting / is a sequel to a game I already like, I research it heavily. I read many different reviews, sometimes watch videos of it, read up on any glitches or freezing issues, check prices in many different stores, check around for any DLC, etc. If I deem it worthy for the price being offered at a certain store, I purchase it. Otherwise I either wait for the price to drop, or wait for a GOTY edition (such as I did with Arkham City) to come out before picking it up.

First of all the cover. If the cover is good, then I'm interested for some reason. Of course, this only applies to random game series I haven't played yet. In fact, I found my favourite games because of the cover :P My favourite covers are those of Valkyria Chronicles 2, Resident Evil 4, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell :D Then I look up reviews and look up gameplay videos, then look up user reviews (except the obvious troll ones) and then decide if I want it.

Watch a few trailers and and gameplay videos to see if it looks like something that might interest me. It also depends on the developer - if I've really liked the work they've done in the past then I have much more faith in their future projects.

If it's been out for a while, I generally go to Metacritic, bring up the entire list of reviews and read 3 or 4 reviews in each of the score ranges. Then I tally up the good, subtract the bad, and discount any nonsense complaints. If I still haven't got a clear enough idea of whether I'll like it by then, I'll youtube a video or three and that usually seals the deal one way or the other.

Not much. I usually drop by just to look through the titles. Esp. in the used section, because I'm a cheap B-turd (yes, turd) and I love older games. The former being the main reason ofc. I will buy a new game however, if I've been eyeballing it pre-release (only time I'll ever cash out 60$) and/or it's been out for a year or two.
