  • Less focus on multiplayer, multiplayer is taking over every game, Crapcom even made a versus mode DLC for the not so scary Resident Evil 5, the words versus mode and Resident Evil 5 should't even go togeter.
  • Sequels that are actually worth the name on the box, no more sequels that completley sh*t on it's fanbase, cough*Resident Evil 5*cough*Splinter Cell Crapviction*cough*2008 Prince of Perisa Reboot*.
  • No more onlines passes, what if someone only rents a game or lets a someone borrow their game, think about in game developers, online passes are stupid.
  • Games should actully be games, gameplay should be the main focus for games, no more games like Mass Effect 2 which focuse so much on story and tac on crap gameplay or Metal Gear Solid 4 with only 4 hours of gameplay, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=864WK54tCLk.
  • Games should only cost what their worth, don't charge full price for something with 4 hour of gameplay.

1) Less formulaic games.

2) Used game blocking / Online passes so game devs can make money and take chances to actually accomplish goal #1.

Roots. I'd like to see some of the flopping game franchises go back to being good like thay used to be.

Like you mentioned Resident Evil 5. That was like a scifi action game. Not hardly scary.

Better use of Single player and less of multiplayer. No lock of used games on consoles.

As far as games, I think publishers will continue down this "all sequels all the time and $50 worth of DLC" road until everyone gets sick to death of it and half of them go bankrupt. That's the only hope for that ever changing.

For next gen consoles I'd like:

  • Low price. Unlike this gen, they aren't introducing Blu ray, hard drives, or going hi-def for the first time. I don't see too much reason for the new consoles to cost an arm and a leg.
  • Rock solid frame rates.
  • Drastically reduced loading times.
  • No texture pop-in.
  • Much longer draw distances.

  • Less focus on multiplayer.
  • No online passes, or used game blocking.
  • At least one console to have no motion controls, or crappy tablets.

This. I really miss the good ol' days where games had good stories that didn't take 5 - 8 hours to complete. I'm not a multiplayer person, so it was disappointing for me to see how many of the games of this generation were primarily built for multiplayer purposes.

Games that don't suck, and hopefully new quality JRPGs that can feel fresh without having to insert so many god damn action RPG elements. This is my least favorite console generation ever, easily.

I'm enjoying gaming now more then ever so as long as they keep doing what they're doing then I'll be more then happy. I love the proliferation of online multiplayer myself so I think this gen has been great for that and I'd like to see it carry into next gen. I've really enjoyed how most of my favourite franchises have performed in this gen such as Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Halo, Forza, Metal Gear Solid, etc. so I'm very excited to see how they'll do next gen. Some really fantastic new franchises have begun this gen and I can't wait to see how they'll evolve next gen. Really looking forward to more Gears of War, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Uncharted, Dragon's Dogma, Blazblue, etc.

Pretty much this. If the next generation of consoles doesn't manage to vastly reduce load times (10 seconds max, with 3 seconds about average) and allow games to offer solid frame rates, little to no pop-in, and greatly improved draw distances then I'll consider it a massive failure.

Nintendo. Big part of this is wiiu is said to have no hdd. This means dlc will be at a minimum. I'd also like to see new things--developers taking risks.

I hope to see more games twice, if not thrice bigger than the soon to be released GTAV.

-

A survival/horror/zombie/rpg. I want multiple major cities and dozens of smaller environments to inhabit depending on whether I want to do some zombie slaying or set up shop and survive whilst looking for other survivors. Storytelling is going to save next gen.

Really I only hope that the Call of Duty influence goes away. It has lead to developers making worse single player campaigns to tack on horrible multiplayer on their game. It has lead to microsoft paying companies to not release or postpone dlc on other consoles. It has lead to games like Resident Evil and final fantasy becoming stupid action games. It has lead in general to a lot of games that arent multiplayer focused fps games to be cancelled. and i hate that. more games like uncharted, la noire, heavy rain and bioshock. less games like call of duty and halo. also. NO MORE GIMMICK CONTROLLERS!!!!111111111

This is what bothered me the most this gen. Apparently all you need to please the masses is high production values to mask the tiny bit of mediocre gameplay actually available. Mass Effect and Uncharted are the biggest culprits of that.

I want the improvement in tech to actually mean something from a gameplay point of view. This gen often wasted it's added power on superficial things.

Less focus on run of the mill versus multiplayer

More titles from less common genres

A return for split screen co-op. This one especially because it seems silly to me that so many games released this gen don't include it.

online passes may go away only to be replaced with game codes. I'm not sayin I like the Idea i'm just sayin its comming like it or not. as for what I would like, I agree with your less multiplayer, I hardly play multiplayer. Multiplayer focused games should be multiplayer only dont waist time putting a crappy campaign together. Other than that just the obvious - better graphics -new IPs

Games today are great but I can't help but wish there were more singleplayer RPGs. Hoping to see more of those next gen.

-No motion control I wouldn't rule out motion controls completely. We need less Wii music/ Kinnect type games and more efforts like Metroid Prime 3 and Skyward Sword

-Less multiplayer focus

-Less FPS's

-More platformers I feel like there was an explosion in this genre this gen. Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Rayman Origins, Super Meat Boy, Braid. Splosion man, Mrs splosion man, Donkey Kong Country Returns, A Boy and His Blob, etc

pretty much the opposite of now.

Definitely. I swear if Microsoft tries forcing Kinect down our throats with the next Xbox I'll pass immediately. Just give me the option to use a regular controller and I'll be content.

Less focus on QTE's, explosive cut scenes, and military shooters.

Less focus on $200 million blockbusters, more focus on smaller, innovative games.

Less focus on dumbing down stealth, survival horror, roleplaying, and RTS games.

Less focus on motion controls, and especially games that require you to use them (at least give us an option).

Smarter usage of DLC (stop dissecting my games and then repackaging them for another $10).

And in a perfect world: parents that actually care that they're child is screaming racial slurs on Xbox Live.
