Well Its coming sooner or later and I am all for it.I am kinda scared at the same time though.I can say that this gen has ben my least favorite.I have had a wii and a 360 and wanted a ps3 but the price was just to steep. The 360 in my opinion this gen was the choice for hardcore gamers, and the wii the choice for casual gamers.

I don't really think we saw enough advacements really this gen even with the motion controls for the wii.In fact most of the games that I have played on the wii were more gimmicks than anything else. Now I said most not all.Super mario galaxy and metroid prime 3 were great games and there are even a few more that I enjoyed.Still for the most part I think that they will find more creative ways to play video games with all the motion stuff coming out.I just hope that there is an option for regular controls too.The 360 had some great games also but I seen way to many rip offs this gen. There have always ben those who try to exploit the pop and make some bucks but I think we saw way more this gen than any other.

What I would like to see this next gen is a console that is more advanced but no so advanced that it will leave a huge black hole in your pocket.I think that they should also try and make it easier for developers to develop game while making it cheaper for them at the same time. This will result in more creative and clever games being made.

I think that all consoles should be HD compatible and all should an online service with voice chat. This is probably going to be the norm.At least I hope.I'm all for motion controls but I just don't want to see a load of gimmick games with the motion controls and like I said I also think that they should have some option for a normal control method.

Now I'm sure many will say this is not so....I think now would be the perfect time for a new contender to step in.Many will say well the market couldn't support all four.....and I say I know that.I think that if some company was ambitious enough they could knock some one out of the competition. All they would need in my opinion is some new and fresh ideas.

People said the market was not big enough for the x-box and here it is alive and well 1 gen later.

What do you thinks coming next and what would like to see?

I'm still very happy with this gen. I like my 360, and my PS3 is the best system I've ever had IMO. Graphics are top notch now, I'd just as soon let the game designers work with these systems several more years. My favorite titles from last gen were from the last few months of the PS2's & Xbox's lifetime (right before the 360 & PS3 hit shelves).

I'm enjoying this gen enough that I want it to keep going for a few more years. I hate launch period software, we're in the warm spot of a console cycle right now. I'd like it to last a bit longer than the last one.

I've enjoyed quite a few games this gen, and it's pretty good overall, but my favorite generations were the last two. Last gen, games became much deeper than ever. This gen, a lot of games focus too much on presentation at the sacrifice of content (see GTAIV and RE5) and I'm very disappointed in that.

Next generation I want to see more depth, random actions, more choices, many more optional paths, etc. I want games to be so deep that a game guide would have to be as thick as a college text book. I'm not really concerned about better graphics either. Devs should focus on other things imo.

As I believe this industry is still very much in its infancy, I can't help but feel very enthusiastic when looking towards the future. There will always be great games coming out, so I have no real valid concerns.

I feel the same way, some really cool games have come out for both the PS3 and the 360. I think we can still be dazzled by new games for these systems. Well maybe not dazzled, how about Big Smile.

The big problems this generation has are cost (the PS3 and X360 price dropped to the launch price of last gen systems only late last year), reliability and the size of the installed base. All three problems can be solved without releasing new hardware (indeed, releasing new hardware pushes one away from solving the third problem).

Power isn't a problem because most developers haven't really pushed the current systems, and those that have say that they can do a lot more.

*Shrugs* Still, I wouldn't die of shock if MS announces a new system as early as next year. Though I believe the high launch price tag of the PS3 and the subsequent flight of 3rd parties gave MS the lead among core gamers this gen, I've heard MS execs credit the timing of the X360 launch, and they are the guys who will decide when to pull the trigger on the 720.

You saw no improvements from the last gen to the current one? Do you have a HDtv? That alone stomps anything the last gen had to offer. Games of this gen are much much larger in terms of features and just scope. Just Cause 2's map destroys anything from last gen. And the Wii has done nothing to improve gaming. It's very clear that with just a handheld device, you are very limited in what you can do. We'll find out if its more of a power thing when the PS3's version comes out. I think Natal will still find a wall it can't overcome. The controller is and will be the best way of playing a game for quite some time.

How so? You can't deny that some of the most hyped and popular games this gen are significantly shorter, and have less content than their prequels from last generation because some devs are more concerned about appearance (HD graphics) than overall product.

FFXIII suffers from this too, it's been dramatically casualized, towns cut out, little exploration, start right where you left off when you die, you don't lose any experience points (CP).

I'm not saying the games are bad by any means, just shorter in some cases, with less content than last generation. I don't see how that's a good thing.

Larger in terms of features? Morrowind and daggerfall were both way bigger and had way more features than oblivion did.KOTOR,baldurs gate 2 and neverwinter nights were all bigger in scope and had more options than mass effect and dragon age.Halo 3 should have ben halo 2.5 and the only real difference between this gen and last gen is the graphics.

Are you just repeating what you've been told? There is actually a good chunk of exploration in FF13, though it doesn't happen until about 30 hours in. And the linear bits aren't any more linear than FFX. Its not as open as FF12, but I recall a lot of crying and hairpulling when FF12 hit (every change every FF makes seems to piss off avocal segment of people).

And your claim that FF13 is shorter than its predecessors is ridiculous. Whatever one's position on its design decisions, its a massive game.

The battle system is superb and there is a lot of variety in the monster design. In regards to its difficulty, it doesn't punish one for dying as much as most other jrpgs, but it is more willing to kill you since enemies present a stiffer challenge than those of most other jrpgs.

No, I never said it was shorter. And yes, I beat the game and think it's a great game overall. I just wonder why they decided to not put in towns to explore. I just think the devs were more concerned with making it look good than adding towns and letting you explore more.

its definately going to be interesting. ninty i think are going to do a wii2 (though it wont be called a wii2). basically a vastly superior wii in every way. history indicates that ninty take a revolution/improve approach to doing things. the wii is great but theres huge room for improvement. i dont think itll be the most powerful console next gen mind...but itll definately be a step up from the wii....a big one (and itll be HD). however anyone hoping for blu-ray playback on a nintendo console better dash those hopes fast. itll still be pretty close to a dedicated gamign console with minimal fluff as standard. i also dont think they will go higher than 300 at launch. the mystery for me is MS. i dont see sony making a huge shift in strategy. there a hardware driven company and they will have the usual 10X as powerful console for the PS4. they may ease off on the features and i dont think they will eb stupid enough to charge 600 at launch and i think they will stick with blu-ray (but have a much faster drive in the PS4)...but itll be a media center and powerful. but MS are not a hardware company..there a service and software company. they dont give a toss about hardware. so will they try and take nintendo head on or do they think that sonys strategy will win the day next gen and go all out on the hardware again? hard to call. also will they continue to rely on buying exclusives or exclusive content from 3rd parties or will they build up a formidable forst party for next gen? maybe they will try and strike a balance between nintys and sonys next consoles and try and offer something to both markets. as for the handhelds...with apple getting its foot in the door things are going to get interesting between both ninty and apple. the 3DS is goign to be huge news at e3 and if it can deliver the goods then ninty will be an extremely formidable opponent to apple. get a proper app store on the 3DS...with DS BC and keep the devs costs and licencing fees sane (which is something nintendo did very well with wii and DS) and apple will be on the back foot. but will nintys title in the handle market be effectively challenged by the seemingly untouchable apple? will the PSP2 come in and completly clean up? will both apple and ninty kick sony out of the handheld market? one things for certain imho. this gen will be remembered as a pivotal one and i think were in for some very interesting and exciting times.

Based on the advancements the TC recommended I don't see anything that isn't already capable in this gen. I would like to see is a system with no optical drive. I would rather see type of flash drive/cartridge that holds games or installing games to removable flash drives. Its way more efficient and stable to play games off of a drive then a disk. Obviously more creativity in gameplay and story lines is alway a good thing.

For me each generation of gaming has been better then the last and I really don't see that changing anytime soon. I think that outside of motion controllers the next step up in consoles won't be as dramatic tech-wise as it was for this gen, at least on Microsoft and Sony's end. I think they will take a Gamecube to Wii approach to both keep the prices down and make it easier for developers. I think Nintendo will need to take a bigger leap in tech for their next machine both in raw power to adding components such as a mass storage device and more RAM.

Why do people still make subjective statements that start with "You can't deny that...."? I can, in fact, deny that. Because it is not an objective fact. The Wii has plenty of short light content games, and I'm not talking about the super casual mini game compilations either. None of them terribly pretty, either. The only two examples you gave are RE5 and GTA4, games I enjoyed immensely, and games I enjoyed more than the games they came after, RE4 and San Andreas. As for your comments on the changes to FF13, I'm not sure I miss "exploring" towns, where you usually dry hump the environments with the X button looking for hidden stuff, talk to NPC's who repeat the same stupid nonsensical lines over and over, and walk right into other peoples homes and steal all their stuff while they just stand there sort of moving back and forth, essentially acting as decorations. I also actually liked starting off where I died, and losing experience points for death is absolutely the worst thing that can ever be done in a RPG of any sort. I still remember the EXP losses in FF11. It could just devastate you, and waste entire hours of grinding. I wanna keep moving forward, not repeat the same section over and over a billion times, reloading checkpoints, rewatching cutscenes, and getting destroyed again only to repeat the process. It's boring, and clinging tot hat kind of design philosophy for the sake of artificial challenge makes no sense. I don't like player punishing stuff, why should I pay sixty bones for a game to kick me in the nuts repeatedly for an hour or two? We're mostly past that kind of stuff now, and good riddance.

Sony and MS will not announce a new console till at least 2012. Both are betting their motion device will carry them well into 2013-14. Besides that, games are still improving and when there is still room for improvement, there is no need for a new console. The only devices that could be announced are handhelds or a 360 slim.

I think it's too early for the new cosoles, too. This gen can still do a lot. Personally, I'm happy with the graphics on these systems. I'm much more interested in design choices. For example, in FF13 (and most games), the characters always wear the same clothes.....EVEN IN FLASHBACKS!! When was the last time Lightning changed her clothes?!?! This becomes more apparent when you play Uncharted 2 and see the wardrobe changes. Good job, Naughty Dog!!

As for next generation, I'd like to see storage go up tremendously. The more DLC and patches they throw at us, the more space we need. I don't like the thought of "oh just delete what you don't need, you can always re-download it". This is something the PS3 is doing well now. They make it easy to upgrade your HDD.

Again, I'm happy with the quality of graphics today, but not some of the technical stuff. For example, I can't believe that at this point, games are still running under 60 frames per second. I thought that was our promise for this gen, HD 60fps. What happened there? As I mentioned before, things like clothes changes, and visual wear and tear on characters and items are things I'd like to see.

Lastly, I really do like 3D and hope that it becomes standard. It would also have to be something you can turn on and off, I understand not everyone likes it, or that it can cause headaches and motion sickness.
