What do you think of EVOLVE (or: should I get it)?

I just watched an EVOLVE video review and it looks fun. I really like only coop games, and I loved L4D and L4D2, so I tend to trust developer Turtle Rock Studios knows how to make a solid coop experience.

I found that these cd-key selling websites (I hope it's OK to talk about them - they are NOT piracy websites) sell the game for $20, which is fair enough for an online game that I might put dozens of hours into.

HOWEVER, a few weeks ago I saw a rather active thread about how this game was ruined by DLC or something like that, and I'd like to know what's up with that and how much it affects those who don't get the DLC (Hunter Season Pass, they call it). Also, is it easy to find servers for this game, again, without having the DLC?

I'm not sure if it is easy to find players. It's matchmaking and not servers, as far as I know. I'm not sure if people still play. Check this out for the numbers of players right now: http://steamcharts.com/app/273350 . So 1000 players is not that much but it should be enough for you to find games.

The game is very good. But it did not please me as much as L4D2. Maybe it's the theme that did not please me as much. I think I prefer full coop to coop and versus in the mean time.

Don't take mind of the dlc bashing and micro transaction. While I'm not saying it's great stuff, it's not a reason imo to not play this great game that is Evolve.

@gmak2442: If you're going to compare this sort of games to L4D most of them won't measure up. L4D was an amazing game and I'll definitely pick up L4D3 if it comes out.

@yonyz: skip it dude, there are other games that are way better. Having $136 dollars worth of DLC day 1 is bad

Evolve is amazing but the PC community is pretty much dead.

For whatever reason morons complain up and down about cosmetic DLC in this game, but not other games like Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, The Last of Us, etc...

Evolve is one of those games like Destiny you either love or hate , unfortunately for the people who enjoy Evolve most people seem to end up in the last group.

So i would not get it unless you are a huge fan.

I'm not sure about how big the community is but Evolve is a pretty good game and $20 is a very good price. Don't let the dlc dissuade you from getting because the majority was cosmetic and anyone can play with anyone regardless of what dlc you get. Another thing that some people fail to mention is that all maps that come out for the game are free.

I've been playing since release on PC and would recommend it to anyone I meet, A few of my friends picked it up on release and weren't that into it, they then started playing again recently in the new Arena mode and they cant get enough of it! Yeah there was Day 1 DLC bla bla bla but none of it pay to win, you could still play with the best players regardless of any additional purchases.
