EA has at least several popular IPs (Old Republic, Mass Effect, Dead Space, the sports games, etc.) but Activision has put all their eggs in the Call of Duty basket.

If I were an Activision stockholder, I would sell now while it's at the peak value because depending on one release for an entire year's profit is not sustainable. Call of Duty will (hopefully) go the way of the Hawk and the plastic instrument game and will be a slight footnote in the annals of gaming when people finally move on from buying annual "roster update" shooters.

That awkward moment when you're too lazy to look something up on wikipedia and ask on a forum instead

Yeah they have quite a bit and it sounds like Skylanders has done pretty good for itself.

Transformers mediocre game but War was okay

Prototype mediocre first game

Marvel not one decent game released except for Shattered Dimentions maybe

Tony Hawk dead and buried due mostly to consumer fatigue

Goldeneye hapless imitation/cashing in the goodwill from the N64 game

Guitar Hero see The Hawk

Skylanders don't know enough about this one

Singularity decent game, horrible sales

Soldier of Fortune you're kidding me, right

I could go on...

TheFallenDemon

Unlike EA which has several AAA blockbusters (trust me, I take no pleasure in posting anything positive about EA), Activision has two (one of which is run completely separately from the rest of the company and is experiencing significant subscriber losses) and it is unsustanable to have all their eggs in that one basket.

Currently it does seem like they have put all their eggs in the Call Of Duty basket. They have other franchises but i'm guessing since they aren't just as popular as the call of duty series then they don't focus on them much as they probably don't see them selling as good as they want them to.

Well they do have a publishing deal with Bungie for 10 years or whatever. Speaking which I sure hope we see what Bungie's next game is going to be like really soon.

They've got Blizzard who makes WoW, Diablo and Starcraft. Not to mention Bungie.

They used to have Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk, but they drove those into the ground by doing exactly what they're doing with Call of Duty now. I think it's inevitable.

They do publish other games, but it seems like every one of them is just some cheap thing rushed out months before it was finished. And they don't tend to advertise them at all so they usually sell like crap, and then Kotick will probably cancel their future projects.

Of course there's World of Warcraft, but that's Blizzard and basically seperate from Activision. If you look the game up on Gamespot or Wikipedia, Activision isn't even mentioned.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft Click on developer -> Blizzard Entertainment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_Entertainment Click on "Type: Subsidiary of Activision Blizzard" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activision_Blizzard "Activision Blizzard, Inc., formerly Activision, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) is the American holding company for Activision and Blizzard Entertainment..." Bobby Kotick, immediately before the merger the CEO of Activision, is now the CEO of Activision Blizzard. In practice, yes - Blizzard is a subsidiary of what Activision was. On paper it's different because they spun off a separate group, named it Activision, and placed it 'alongside' Blizzard instead of 'above' it. And all that said, Blizzard is still left to do their own thing because nobody else can do Blizzard better than they do it themselves.

Activision has that nutjob CEO Bobbby Kotick who likes to brag about being greedy and milking successful video game franchises. That and Activision released some good Atari 2600 games around 30 years ago. That's about it.

They dont have anything besides Call Of Duty.

I haven't bought a Activision game in ages. The only upcoming game that looks even some what interesting is Prototype 2.

As far as im concerned Activision has nothing to offer.
