I miss the old days of sittin with a friend and blowing stuff up on red faction. we could get tons of easy bots and just have a blast beating on them. I wish more games these days had those options for their multiplayer modes still in addition to online.

I think for a lot of people (including myself), bots just don't offer the same level competition as other humans. I don't think A.I. can ever be as dynamic as humans so I can't ever see myself prefering them over playing with other humans. As for split screen, well, I admit there is something about having friends over and gaming together. However, nowadays, for a game that would require the screen to be divided for multiple people to play, I think only co-op really works best. Split screen competition just allows your opponent to see everything you're doing and know where you are at all times. (And i'm speaking strictly in the context of first person shooters, btw)

I think the reason we don't see them as much is because so many people are playing online. Developers don't see the need to spend extra time programming bots.

Online since it's so new for consoles has become a fad for developers, thinking there aren't still gamers out there who enjoy playing with people in the same room or multiplayer by themselves. That is one reason I love Timeplsitters so much. I can play multiplayer by myself.

Same here. I had a blast with Timesplitters 2, and I still go back to Perfect Dark Zero once in a while because I can play a bot match with a friend and get an approximation of an online match on the couch. Most of the time I'd rather take the relatively mindless bots over obnoxious human players.

yeah every once and a while I just don't feel like wainting to get into an online game, only to find they're all cheating or team shooting or something and you just need to take it out on some easy bots.

I wish more games had split-screen. I like to play games with my brother, or with friends when they come over.

I've only ever played Counter Strike Source with bots... and I've spent at least 30-40 hours with the game. a few matches online showed me that I didn't want to be a part of that community. They grief when you are good and kick you when you are bad. Probably why I like Day of Defeat a lot more, the community is accepting of new members and makes them feel welcome.
