I was enjoying playing my old Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense games the other day and I started wondering why people just seem to have given up on TWISTED METAL's competition. I know another TM is coming up but are we ever gonna get another V8 installment? I know Luxoflux folded but WTF is the problem with the series getting a new developer?GREGalicious
It wouldn't be profitable enough, especially since another TM is coming out and it's the undisputed king of car combat games. It would be like asking where the competition for Mechwarrior is (where is THAT game, by the way!? o_O). It's a niche gaming genre that doesn't do any developers any good for there to be competing brand names.

I think it would be profitable in the right hands. TM1 and 2 were great but V8 and V82nd were certainly way better than TM3 and 4. Luxoflux wasting all that time and money making those horrible True Crime games couldve been put towards a true V8 sequel (which wouldve at least made them money). Its not like there are any other relevent games of this genre out there right now. The V8 series is just dormant right now (like Street Fighter was for nearly a decade), but i believe it will be revived one day.I thought with all the sci-fi stuff and the confusing objectives, Vigilante 8 2 wasn't as good as the original (which I enjoyed quite a bit).

Let alone having more realistic physics but then strapping snow ski's and hover pods to the cars. Anyways Luxoflux lost it's founders who made Isopod Labs and Luxoflux went under. Isopod Labs then reimagined a bit of V8 and V8:2O and made a terrible XBLA game. Seeing as Activision owns the name and the last game bombed with the studio that handled the games defunct. The only way we'll possibly see a V8 3 is if the new TM game sells like crazy and Kotick hops on the bandwagon. I personally don't see that happening. Please Log In to post.
