'Nuff Said. My vote goes for the Wheel of Time. Great backstory, huge world, guilds, a very unique magic system, and great things to kill. I mean, who wouldn't want to go eye to eye (so to speak) with a fade?

i think Zelda would make a great MMO, you've already got the character classes (Hylian, Zora, Goron, Deku, etc.) you've got an amazing world (Hyrule, and pissibley Termina, and the Twilight world), and a great back story (the triforce, Gannon, etc.)

Do you think Starcraft could be a good MMO, maybe become big as WoW?

The Wheel of Time has so much backstory and depth it would make a great one. I also think the world created by Steven Ericksson in his books would make a good.

Also the Alan Dean Foster Spellsinger series would be cool as a mmorpg.

I'm with this guy. If done right, there is unlimited potential for this game. If you've watched the series you'll know how extensive this could be....heaps of character possibilities, a fairly deep story, massive amounts of items, weapons, ships, planets. And you've got easy transport through stargates to any planet you wish. Territories to fight over. Evil/Good guys to defeat (depending which side you are on (good - humans, tokra, asgard etc versus bad - Goa'uld, Retu Rebels, Wraith) Ties with Egyptian mythology. Cool space ships and technology. /fanboy rant :P

Frank Herbert's Dune might make for an interstng MMO setting. It has a good reason to implement some kind of PVP between house factions. I wouldn't want to see it turned into a WoW clone, though. I think something in the vein of the pre-NGE/pre-CU SWG could work.

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

Too bad it would only have one Seeker, although becoming a Wizard would be sweet. Mord Sith, Sisters of the Light, Dream Walkers, etc. That would make an epic game.

I think a Pokemon MMO would be simply fantastic. Players could organize groups like "youngsters" or "hikers" but with their own styles and what not, team battles, have quests against team rocket and have huge tournaments that could be world wide.

As others have said, a Wheel of Time MMO would be fantastic, certainly has the potential. If not that, then any good Vampire/Werewolf MMO would be a nice change. Definately an untapped genre, which is odd given how popular Vampires and Werewolfs are.

That is a great idea. I never would have thought of that.

I think something based on the Neuromancer trilogy by William Gibson is screaming for a modern update.

One Piece has interesting world, and the make up of that world is excellent setting for MMORPG.

Also, I'm still quite shocked that Nintendo has yet to make Pokemon MMORPG.

I think Firefly would make a fantastic MMO, assuming that they had monthly 'story' updates (like Uru Online, or whatever) written by Jos Whedon.

Discworld could work, too.

Lol, that would be nice, I used to play a pen and paper RPG based on Discworld some time ago.

I'm finding it hard to imagine what the gameplay would be like though, whether it's a PVE, PVP, or just some crazy free-for-all orgy where you build stuff and use all kinds of magic. As a fan of the books I can only expect it to be the third option :P

BattleStar Galactica! (either a MMO or a RTS)

This should be a no brainer.

For one, Bleach(Anime) You could be a Soul reaper, and go through the Academy, also Resident Evil, You could Play as Survivers together, kind of like Out break, only good, and done with more of a RPG element...
