You know, a game that's so epic, that just SECONDS before you reach the VERY final challenge of the game, you have an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment, and you know that it's about to go down. That's the best way I can describe it.

In all honesty, the closest I can say to feeling that way was probably Sonic Unleashed HD.

What about you?

The one that comes to mind is Mass Effect 3... All the build up from ME 1 through to 3 was so amazing and it was just so cool to finish that last mission (I know most people hated the ending but I actually felt satisfied with it).

One of the best game experiences I've had.

Uncharted 2, Okami, The Last of Us (a more subtle form of epic), Mass Effect 1 and 2 (haven't finished 3 yet), BioShock Infinite, Final Fantasy 6, Shadow of the Colossus, Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition, Chrono Trigger...I could go on.

@hrt_rulz01: The Mass Effect games were also the first that came to my mind as well.

The Mass Effect Trilogy, especially the 2nd one. There was also Final Fantasy 9 back in the day.

Yeah, Mass Effect 3 was definitely like that for me. And it helped that the mission to retake Earth was so epic (it honestly felt like i'd fought an entire war by the time it was over).

Sticking with the OP's Sonic suggestion I'd also have to go with Sonic Adventure 2's The Final Hazard stage. Other Sonic games have done the Super Sonic finale (well, pretty much all of them since) but Sonic Adventure 2's was a killer moment.

I have yet to play a game that had me sit back and think "wow this was epic"

I have played tons of great and really good games, but luckily never sat back and had that epic feeling.

The sense of accomplishments on completing these is un rivalled.

I have gamed over 20 years. Mass effect series was amazing. Specially ME2.

But god souls games are gonna whack the balls of the best.

The Witcher trilogy and Mass Effect trilogy. At the end of each Mass Effect game, I was shaking with fear and excitement.

Chrono Trigger may have been the first. Then Zelda: Majora's Mask. The most recent would have been The Last of Us.

Playing final fantasy X, one thing that I liked about the game was its story telling the pace. I feel like the way it portrayed Sin to be the ultimate enemy of the game/story was one of the best in games I've played. You are literally taken across continents, lands..etc to see a entire world, its history, and see how it revolves around Sin.

When's finally get to decide to fight him, I still remember it was this, "this is it" moments.

Last game like that for me was Dishonored. My second play through of Thief 3 with mods and Skyrim with mods was also like that and previous to those was STALKER with mods.

I think Fallout 4 will give me that once some more mods come out, it's close in a way but some things here and there are breaking that level of immersion for me.

I had that feeling with Warhammer Online (that Dwarf in my sig), thou it's PvP game and there's no actual "final" to it.

But I enjoyed the feeling of epicness all the way long :)
