i dont mean actually gameplay, i mean from when you got it, to when you beat it.

i have every intention of beating every game i enjoy, so needless to say i gotta a backlog bigger than a steven king novel.

so it brings me much joy now that i finally beat legacy of kain: soul reaver for the ps1, although i cant pinpoint when i got it it was close to its launch and i just beat it this very moment :D (minus the time it took to make this thread)

and i always was determined to beat it (out of my love of its story and series, although i only beat 2, defiance, and now soul reaver; blood omen 1 is 1/2 done, and ill have to start over in blood omen 2 cause i dont even have my old xbox, let alone its save files) cause i loved it but i kept getting stuck.

what game has taken you the longest to beat, or atleast what games of ur yesteryears are you determined to beat, but just arent able to.

There are plenty of games that I bought in the early 90s that I haven't beat yet, so maybe some of those.

What else...uh, Ocarina of Time? I bought that day one, and didn't get around to finishing it until 2009-ish.

Yesterday I just beat Dead Space 2 and I purchased it the day it released. So, it's been about a year.

Hmm, do you mean either spanning over years and coming back to the games, or over a few days/weeks etc.?

It would either be Resident Evil 3 (I finally completed it last November time... I first played it when it came out on the PS1!) or, it would probably be any of these three (all date back to around the same time in the PS1 days): Doom 1, 2: Hell on Earth and Duke Nukem 3D. I beat Doom 1 back in 2010, Duke Nukem 3D about a year ago and Doom 2 the original chapter in the same month actually, I think). So yeah, about 12 years for RE3, and around 15ish for the Doom games and Duke 3D :P. I finished Duke 3D just before Forever came out LOL. I haven't played Forever yet, though... still need it.

But if you mean games as in what games took ages to beat in one go (NOT one sitting of course ;)) then GTA: San Andreas can take a while, as can MGS3: Snake Eater, and RE4 and 5.

I have never really kept track of the actual time of how long it took me to beat a game. I find that open world games take me longer to beat because I love exploring the world and I like doing side missions as well.

I have quite the back catalogue of rpgs. The oldest probably is dragonquest 8. Got it when it came out still haven't beaten it. Then still got, ff12, ff13, demons souls, fallout 3, mass effect 2, shin megami devil survivor. I always get action games in between and get side tracked, beat those leaving the rpgs gathering dust, still plan on beating them. One that I did end up beating that took a while though would be ff 5 gba, that took 4 years I believe.

You mean Metroid Prime? That's like a 12-20 hour game... Maybe you're talking about the second one because that one was quite a bit longer.

I'd have to go with Dragon Quest VIII myself. Over 80 hours to beat the story

I don't know. I spent a lot of game time in Final Fantasy XII, because I wanted to complete all the side-quests and kill all the monsters, so I would say about 200 hours to finish.

Probably Ninja Gaiden II. I couldn't bare the cheapness, so I quit.... and on a whim, picked it up nearly 2 years later and finished it.

I put 250 hours into Super Smash Bros. Brawl before I stopped playing it... and I still really haven't "beat it", so I'd have to go with that.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, took me forever, probaly because of flying school plus stuffing around between missions.

Jet Force Gemini, I gave the guy his underpants, but got nothing in return... Finished it for the first time since when I first played it (10-15 years ago) in 2008. I will never forget it.

Hmm, R-Type 1. Took me almost two decades but I finally beat the game several years ago. And Fallout 3 took me two years since I restarted often due to making mistakes I was trying not to make. Loved every second I spent on that great game.

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. I got for an Xmas present in 1998 but I found it too hard to beat as a kid. I sold the game some time later and then re-bought the game in 2007. I finally played through it all, saving all 300 mudokons.
