For me it has more to do with the possibility of getting scratched discs. That's why I think twice about buying any used games on dvd and not blu ray. I've had two games in the past that spazzed out and prevented being able to be completed on the 360, but any used PS3 game I've bought has been fine.albatrossdrumsthats why I check very carefully before making a purchase :P any more suggestions please?

I prefer to buy new games for the disc condition as well. The problem with scuffs and scratches is that most indie shops now have machines that scrape entire layers off of the cd/dvd. This will make the game look like it is in great condition, but it can cause a lot of read errors if the disc gets warped in any kind of way.

I didn't know that, that's awful. Thank you. That's not to say that "fixing" the game doesn't help sometimes too, though. I bought Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit for someone as a gift a couple months back and the game was so scratched up that I agreed to have it "fixed." The friend I gave it to said it played great.
