I haven't played any FPS game significantly since Halo 2, but I'm gonna get back into it. I know there is COD, Battlefield, Halo, etc. But what is the most current one with the most tolerable playerbase?

I've been playing a lot of Halo MCC lately with headphones (no mike) and I'm surprised how little people use mikes. Out of all the games I've played I've never ran into anyone that I wished I had muted. Most of the time, no one says anything. So, for me at least, I've never had anyone be swearing constantly, or making insults.

If your looking for a straight forward, arcade and fun shooter, go with COD! If your looking for something tactical, team based and fun, go with Battlefield.

Battlefield has the least toxic community. The games kind of revolves around teamwork.
Halo also has amazing multiplayer and I haven't really had problems with the player base.

It's too bad you want an FPS specifically. PvZ Garden Warfare is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer versus shooter since Timesplitters splitscreen play. For FPS specifically, Titanfall's movement is fluidic and great. I didn't play it much, but that's only due to Garden Warfare being so good.

Battlefield for large scale combat, Planetside 2 for HUGE HUGE scale combat. Call of Duty for small scale. Red Orchestra or Insurgency for realism.
