What happened to all of the great games?

Most games are not very good anymore. Games like call of Duty are dominating the market, and other games like the Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy are becoming stale lately. Every once in a while, great games will emerge out of nowhere, but these days, games don't feel the same as they once felt.

1. Hitman: Blood Money > Hitman: Absolution
2. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1-9 > Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD
3. Final Fantasy 1-10 > Final Fantasy X-2-13-2
4. Previous Action Titles > Current Action Titles (Cough) Call of Duty.

They're in stores.

They're are plenty of great games being made in both retail and by indie developers. Or maybe you are just getting tired of gaming.

Either way there are still plenty of good games that can be found.

If you have a PS3 The Last of Us just came out and imo is one of the best games of all time.

Rise of Flight, Company of Heroes, and Wargame Airland Battle to name a few, but of course, they are available only on one platform.

This is thread is bland and derivative. There are far too many threads complaining about how the intrinsic value of video games have been deteriorating over time. Most people should seriously take off those rose tinted glasses.

Hitman Absolution is far better than Blood Money in almost every conceivable way and that is coming from somebody who has played every game in this franchise.

And the rest of your argument is shallow, banal and entirely unsubstantiated so kudos for essentially nullifying your own postulation by making certain to include not one iota of evidence to back it up.

A demographic that has played far too many games is unwilling to admit that they're simply getting older.

They made sequels of them until the developers were bored to death with doing the exact same thing over and over for their entire careers and they had fully exhausted every "creative" possibility available for that specific game.  Then they made more sequels
