I'm sure most of you have already played the POP game. Warrior Within and The Forgotten Sands were my favourite ones but what happened after that? Has been 7 years and no new release was made by Ubisoft is the franchise ended or what's up any idea?

I guess it didn't made enough money and Assassins Creed is the new PoP? There is a little bit of hope though
Modern gamers are not into those kinds of games it seems so big publishers will mostly do whats guaranteed to make heaps of cash...you know like 54 Assassin Creed games and such lol, why make anything else thats good haha.
I mean if you know you will never use a certain IP again, sell it or give it away to someone more passionate to at least try and do a good job with it, otherwise it just sits there.
Good example is Sony and Activision doing Crash remasters. Acti wasnt doing anything with that IP.
I think the most recent entry was a flop. It had like 0 hype and I saw a used copy at Gamestop for like $5 only about a month after it's release
I loved the very first game back then but everything after that was so not in the spirit of this game. I never saw the IP as iconic. To me it was one good game.
They made a really good game with the last installment and kind of changed the formula a bit for the sake of artistic integrity and making a better product, and it didn't sell as well.
This is why I am a self-loathing gamer, because we are fickle bastards that talk smack about AAA titles but then when a AAA studio actually does something very un-AAA-like (a-AAA-typical?) we are like "WTF is this? This isn't PoP? Cel shaded? Different gameplay? Hmmmmmm....hiiiiiiiiighly suspicious!"
Well, two things. One, the "reboot" wasn't well received, and it became somewhat obsolete with the Assassin's Creed franchise.
It could totally come back, but it would have to be very memorable for it to stick around.
I agree that AC does scratch a lot of the itch that PoP would, but the parkour/running aspects of AC are "realistic". It'd be nice if there was another franchise out there (PoP for example) that kept up the arcade aspect of it, i.e. long wall runs, unrealistic backflips, jumping five times from one wall to another to get to the top of a 5 story structure, and so forth. Even Mirror's Edge, while fun in that respect, still kept you tied to reality when you stumbled or mis-timed things. It's like "Grrrrr just let me run don't keep me bogged down in reality!" Hell even the new Tomb Raider reboots do this.
the original owner owns the rights to the series, not ubisoft. So it would be up to him if he wants ubisoft to use its license.
Even tho AC has some Prince of Persia mechanics, there was still some fun things you could only do in Prince of Persia, and you could solve puzzles using the time rewind feature. I guess PoP is like Splinter Cell franchise and they aren't selling like AC, so Ubisoft sees it as not worth their time.
