Imagine if Microsoft and Sony made their own versions of Brawl for their own consoles and discuss. Microsoft would probaby put characters from Halo, Gears of War and their other exclusive games. Sony will probably put FF characters in it and Ratchet and Jak and Daxter.

M$ has a game on XBLA called Small Arms and it was a lot like SSB and really fun.

I can imagine Microsoft doing it.

They have taken pretty much everyone else's idea.

Motion controllers coming soon.

Quiz game already done.

Singing game on the way

Avatars = Miis and Home.

Tell me when they get their own ideas someone?

Not really. All the characters were just generic animals and the focus was on shooting.

It would be kinda cool to see Master Chief and Marcus Fenix duke it out.

Every company copies off their competition. That's why things like rumble packs, analog sticks, and wireless controlers have become industry standards. And really if they can do it well does it really matter who did it first?

Sony and Microsoft don't have the first party characters to populate such a game. A SEGA Smash Bros would be much more interesting. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Robotnik, Shinobi, Alex Kidd, Vectorman, Beat from Jet Grind Radio, a few VF characters, Max from Shining Force, Ax Battler from Goldenaxe, Axl from Streets of Rage, etc.

While it most likely wouldn't have the nostalgia factor going for them like Smash does and they'd have to get a bunch of third party characters on board I think they could turn out to be very cool none-the-less.

Yes, it does. First of all, M$ has been stealing ideas since the 80's, but I'm sure there are already countless threads and websited dedicated to that topic.

Anyway, when copying goes unabated, bad things can happen. When a company with a ton of money comes in and steals a smaller company's innovative ideas, they can offer essentially the same product at lower costs (or in the video game industry, with better hardware specs), and advertise the hell out of it. The result is that the bigger "copycat" company drives the smaller, more innovative company out of the market. Do you think that is a good thing?

People like Smash Bros because it has a roster of characters that people care about and a long legacy from which to draw upon. Sony and Microsoft don't have that.

Every time I play SSB I think of how much better Powerstone is.
