What is a 'Cow' and why do people keep using it as an insult?

In a lot of the System Wars threads I've browsed, I've seen fans of one console call out the other as 'cows'. What does this mean? I tried Googling it but found nothing.

Fanboy Nicknames:

• FAKEBOYS are those who falsely support one system. They are often used to create false hype for new games or products, making a certain type of fanboy look very bad when said product doesn't fully deliver as expected.
• FANBOYS are those who support a system, and show extreme disgust for other systems.
• HERMITS are those who support the PC. Possible origin being that PC fanboys have a hard time finding a place amongst the console fanboys.
• COWS are users who are devout supporters of Sony's hardware. (The name comes from 6th gen characteristics where many accessories were needed to get the full experience, like the multi-tap, additional controllers, hard drives, eye toy, etc. This was called "milking" therefore getting the name "cows")
• LEMMINGS are those who support the Xbox and its entire franchise (Comes from the 6th generation where Microsoft fanboys believed anything that Microsoft said. And also because they listen to all of the Microsoft commands, like "jump off a cliff".)
• SHEEP are those who support Nintendo and their entire franchise (They are called sheep because they blindly followed anything that Nintendo said.)
• MANTICORES are those who support all systems. It's a rarely used term. They are called manticores because they are a mixture of a lot of animals. Now you see "multi-system owners" in place of this formerly common name, although don't be mistaken, a multi-system owner is not impartial towards all systems like a manticore.

I guess I fall under Manticore? I'm more of a PC and PS4 gamer myself and I do own Nintendo Switch (and also Wii U) mainly for exclusive games.

It's not an insult. Cows are the master species.

Sony fans = cows. Sony milks them for all they are worth, as they buy whatever Sony puts out, including numerous remakes and the $600 ps3 (back in the day).

Xbox fans = lemmings. Follow MS blindly no matter what (I guess, not really sure on this one).

Nintendo fans =sheep, because they follow nintendo blindly, like a sheep follows its shephard.

PC Fans = PC gamers are hermits, because they spend most of their time in a dark, enclosed space by themselves. Although they like to refer to themselves as the "master race" which isn't offensive at all....

That's because not even Google wants anything to do with System-Wars and Google is a global internet search engine.

On a serious note; go ask the System-Wars Forum. GD is for >games< discussion; not why stupid nicknames get invented by a minor group-base, bragging about a different chunk of plastic.

I'm surprised those terms are still around. I never really see it outside of GameSpot, and even then I wasn't aware that they're still used here. Of course, I rarely venture into System Wars because it's like purposely walking into a toxic cloud or something.

It’s also British slang for an annoying woman - not that I condone using it, of course...

it's a pretty cringy nomenclature i've never been able to bring myself to use. and anyone that does use it almost always instantly goes down in my estimation

They are outdated terms. The real cows are Nintendo fanboys because they will literally buy $100 cardboard from them. Now THAT is milking! LOL :p

I have cows on my farm but they aren't dairy cows so I don't milk them.
