The Witcher 3

Good stories (yes, plural...pretty much every quest--main quest, side quest, or other--had enough to interest me) and open world makes for an entertained bojangles.

If the combat were a bit better and more responsive, it'd be the perfect game.

Fallout 4 would be my choice. I like the story. One thing I have realized while playing these type of games is that I will literally spend two or four hours in a particular area and I still wouldn't feel like I explored enough.

Well, currently it's Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. Out of the blue on Wednesday, I came across a video explaining what Battletech was and I became interested in the universe. Today, I installed the MW4M freeware and pulled the Logitech joystick out of storage (apparently it's the only proper way to play a MW game) and was genuinely exhilarated playing a video game.

Blowing stuff up while running circles around it in an action-packed tactical situation brought a huge smile to my face. One that I haven't got from a game in years. It's awesome, and I'm already hooked on the fluff.

Favorite game in recent memory is probably the 2014 Monster Hunter 4G.

All time? I just don't have 'one'. . A list of games I did consider masterpieces though-

  • Monster Hunter 4G
  • Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
  • Bare Knuckle III
  • Makai Senki Disgaea 1/2/3
  • Resident Evil Remake/ 2/ Nemesis/ 4
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Devil May Cry 3
  • Super Mario World
  • Ninja Gaiden: Black/ Sigma
  • Dungeon Keeper II
  • Guacamelee
  • Dragon's Crown
  • Little Big Planet 2
  • The Secret of Monkey Island
  • Street Fighter III: Third Strike
  • Guilt Gear XX: Accent Core Plus
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Dark Souls 3

Probably more, but I'm getting pretty sleepy so that list should do_

In that list it's Bloodborne.

I have three major pillars of gaming for me. Nintendo, Souls games, and Street Fighter.

Far Cry 4, post-SP campaign when the whole map is open and no restrictions on game assets. Turn off the UI and reset the outposts......Perfect.

Actually, not quite perfect. If Ubisoft allowed enemy AI to use the Buzzer, then it would be perfect. Should've been that instead of the pesky eagles. The rhinos were a nice touch though.

Not free anymore. But, it was free a few years ago. That's when I got mine although I also have the disc version.

You probably should have had an "Other" option in your poll or clarified that you wanted us to help you pick out which game out of the list you mentioned that you're looking into possibly purchasing.

The games that for me that are the "Best" at the moment would be any game that has a lot of replayability.

  • Dota 2
  • H1Z1
  • Ark: Combat Survival Evolved
  • Garry's Mod

I'd say I'd add Overwatch to this list once it's released. Basically my requirements for my personal list is for a game to have both a multiplayer component and enough of a community where I'll be able to get a reliable few years of play time out of such and such game. Dota 2 for example came out 4 years ago and is still going very strong. Garry's Mod has been out since 2004 and there's still a few servers that are nearly full at many times throughout the day.

Everyone's best games will differ so a poll with only 7 choices is much too little unless this thread was meant for us to help you figure out what game you were looking to buy out of your list.

Out of that list, it would be The Witcher 3. My real favorite games are the Donkey Kong Country games on the SNES.

Legally free, no. But it's not available on any convenient paid distributor currently.

Hmm, out of the ones in the list.

Fallout 4

MGS V was also really good.

Witcher 3 is overhyped imo. It´s a ok game but i'm just not into that game genre.

@Jacanuk:

I would assume you didn't play Witcher 3 on its Hardest difficulty setting. People that just breeze through it (on Easy or Normal), with no challenge, get bored of it too fast and put it away. It's a great game!

The witcher, with as bad as it engine can make it perform, is still s masterpiece, and the best out of all those. I would say MGSV, but with Konami essentially cutting a third of it away couple with the world merely being a sandbox without much of a story, I cant put it over Witcher 3, which just drips with immersion.

@xboxlegend2002: The Witcher 3 is a very enjoyable sandbox RPG, but it has some major issues. It has some bad input delay making combat and interactions feel disconnected. As long as you don't have overly high expectations from the gameplay department, you'll have a good time.
