JRPG - Tales of Symphonia or Pokemon Gold (does it count as one?)
WRPG - Morrowind
Funkyhamster
Yes Pokemon Gold counts as JRPG..
It's just shocking to see anyone pick that or one of Tales series as best JRPG they've played.
As for my choice, I'd have to go with Final Fantasy VII.
1 - Grandia
2 - Grandia III
3 - Grandia Xtreme
4 - Grandia II
5 - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
6 - Final Fantasy V
7 - Pokémon Diamond/Pearl
8 - Phantasy Star IV
9 - Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete
10 - Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy VII for me, followed by Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VIII, and Chrono CrossZhenDash
I'm gonna second that one FFVII & VIII were pure genius, then I'm gonna say Pokemon Yellow just because I have so many fond memories of my Mew, Charmander & Alakazam kicking ass at school :P
1. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, a truly joyous gaming experience.
2. World of Warcraft, one word: addictive.
3.Knights of the Old Republic, breathtakingly deep RPG with an amazing scope.
4. Guild Wars, truly unique and involving gaming experience.
5. Breath of Fire II (or was it III?) (GBA), this may come as a surprise to some of you but I found it to be quite enjoyable and addictive.

Suikoden or Suikoden II.
Its quite sad that these games dont get the recognition they deserve.
Pessu
considering how much they are going for on ebay and half.com
I think they are getting recognition they deserve.
They simply aren't best JRPG out there so they just aren't getting recognition you want them to get.

the difference of the genre between them would be where it is being made.
JRPG stands for Japanese RPG, while WRPG stands for Western RPG.
Well not only that but they also have very different design
JRPG usually focuses on story telling, anime-like characters, and simple but deep turn based combat engine and magic system. Also they are usually more linear and stylish
WRPG usually have their focus on choices of the matter and building your character in specific manner. They usually try to give much more freedom in terms of both storyline and building your character and usually the games are non-linear. Also most WRPG uses D&D system rather than just turn based combat.
Prime example of JRPG would be Dragon Quest series while WRPG would be KOTOR.
i dont feel like putting anything in order
ff6&7,both the chronos, legend of dragoon,kotor(1 was better),kingdom hearts, star ocean2,digaea1(its tactical but its also an rpg).......thats all i can think of for now
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, hands down, no doubt.
Not only my favorite RPG, it's probably my favorite game so far. Though Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is pretty sweet as well.

Zelda games often get classified as RPG's, but excluding those..
I'd go with Final Fantasy 3(6 in japan) and chrono trigger. When talking personal taste, i like to put earthbound up with those two.. though i truelly do believe it is a member of best games of all time, just not necissarily in the top 3 rpgs.
