What is the best SNES RPG of all time?

My favorite RPG, and favorite game of all time, would be Super Mario RPG. I know it's not as deep as the other RPGs, but it's so entertaining. Great battle system, great characters, great music. Still excites me to this day even after playing through it countless times. :D

The only one I care for is Super Mario RPG, but I don't really like RPGs that old, most stuff made by Square that old and especially Breath of Fire.

It's a tie between Final Fantasy III(VI) and Chrono Trigger, but I really enjoy playing Earthbound also.

chrono trigger a game masterpiece, for its story and its sheer intensity, intuitive battle control and breathtaking surprises. great graphics and sound too.

Illusion of Gaia,The Legend of Zelda and Secret of Mana are my three fav's

I would have to go with Earthbound. It is such a forgotten game. I think more people need to know about this game. Even Nintendo has neglected to add more games to this series or get it on the Virtual Console. gloomycityrain

Final Fantasy 3/6 wins for me. Chrono Trigger comes in a close second, then definitely Earthbound.

I still wouldn't ever consider Zelda an RPG more than it is an Adventure game.

It's the same reason I wouldn't consider a game like Halo to be an RPG shooter just because you play the role of a spartan against the Covenant. I mean it just isn't right.

Zelda doesn't posess the same elements that the RPG genre is known for. It does posess all the elements to consider it an Action Adventure, so I'm not sure why Gamefaqs wouldn't ****fy it as that. Definitely not an RPG though imo.

TC, i hate you. lol making me choose between 3 of my favourite games ever... Final Fantasy VI (3 to some of you), Chrono Trigger, and Secret Of Mana. All absolutely awesome.

earthbound is the best in my opinion

i didn't like chrono trigger that much and I never played secret of mana

If your going just on story then I would have to go with FF6.
