I can't think of the hardest game I ever beat but I can think of a few difficult games I've played. Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars and Monkey Island: The Curse of Monkey Island are a few that spring into my mind.Robot_Vampire
I guess there are some relatively unlogical progression in those games. But they are pretty great though.
I guess getting 200 points in geo wars was my hardest game
In Soviet Russia hardest game beats you! :|
but I think the hardest game I ever beat was prince of persia 3D. Not because it's a hard game, but because I was only 7 or something, it was one of my first real games and I didn't speak english, so my Dad had to tell me what to do all the time.

I second this, for some reason, and i dont know why, i found this game extremely difficult, (xbox 360 version)
Good Question. Tons of games over the years. But I have to say.........either the original Metal Gear or Night Trap........The Horde was pretty tough too. Lots of games in the old days were hard.....Faxanadu, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy I, etc, etc.
Contra for NES. I was young and had a tough time making it through the game. With a few lives.
As of now. Half-Life 2: Episode 2, chapter 6. The battlefield area on difficulty, hard. Not sure if it was chapter 6. It's the area where you must ride around in the Valv3-mobile. Using sticky bombs on the striders. While trying to catch the hunters with your fender. Also one of the best gaming experiences, I've ever had!
Metroid FusionDeku_Grumble
Anyway, the hardest games I've ever beaten were some of the Myst games (with some depressingly logical puzzles that can take many hours to work out), and F-Zero X (where you have to race perfectly in order to barely win).
After some thought I felt I had to re-post and take back my last one. The hardest game I ever beat was Snake Rattle & Roll. This game gets very hard 3 levels into it and took me so long to beat. I remember taking a break from life to play this game. *note I didnt have much of a life b/c I was around 6 or 7 then. Im sure you who said Battletoads probaly remember this game (same era)
My hardest game is probably F-Zero GX. I had problem with finishing the race on the higher difficulty, I onced left this game alone fo quite a while due to the sheer difficulty, but I recently went back to this game and beat it a few weeks ago. I feel this is one of my major accomplishment.-DarthMaul-
Major props to anyone who beats this game, especially on Story Mode. I usually never give up on games but that game made me give up. Gawd it's freakin' hard.
On console I'm not sure what my toughest is, maybe Shinobi (PS2). The difficulty level of the late stages and final boss especially (what a bastard he was) probably puts that one at the top. I am pretty bad at PC games though so I struggle with some games that others probably beat pretty easily, i.e. I probably had a harder time completing Half-Life 1 then I did any console game although I played it on hard mode.

The problem is that even if you manage to beat Story Mode (which is extremely difficult), you'll still have to work your way through the now-unlocked Hard and Very Hard modes in order to unlock everything. It's insane.
