I do look at reviews when I decide to buy games, not just one review, but the perspective of almost every major review source I can find. Also, I like getting the impressions from fellow gamers, like the gamers in this forum.
But there are times I bought a game regardless of low review scores. Haunting Ground is an example of a game that got under a 7, but I still enjoyed it. Another game is God Hand. Even though it got mixed reviews, some high most low, it did get a low average, but I still liked it nevertheless.
So at the end, what matters most is if I like the game personally.
Probably about a 6.0.
But when it really comes down to it I don't care what reviewers say, unless the game truly is universally accepted as a pile of garbage. I have several games that have received about a 6.0 (maybe a little more) from GameSpot and/or other sources and I like them a lot and completely disagree with the scores, so it really just boils down to opinion and personal preference.
If I relied on reviews from anyone I wouldn't have the best game on GameCube today.
I'm talking about Gotcha Force. I guess this means the lowest I go is 2?
the lowest I've gone for a game I expected to be good was 6.4 (mario kart 64)
for bargain bin $2 games I've gotten games in the 5-range
Edit: Also back when Mario 64 was the only really good DS game I got the DS version of Goldeneye Rogue Agent (6.3)
Im the kind of person that bases a games life and death on certain reviews, usually IGN. And since i dont have millions of dollars, i cant buy everygame that a company cranks out, therefore i wont buy any game that gets any thing lower than a 8.5 from ign and a 8.9 from gamespot. What about y'allSpace_Cowboy7
If you base games on IGN review, you would've ended up playing Star Wars: Star Fighter (was that the title?) and missed Godhand.
I don't care what number score a game gets. I read the reviews and see if the game has elements that I would enjoy. I've played many games that recieved 9 and above and hated it, but I often had good times with games that recieved 7 and under like Saga Frontier II. I can see why they recieved such scores but that doesn't mean my enjoyment is based on scores of a game.
I read and then decide. I don't look at the numbers.

Anywhere between a 80-85 is when I won't buy a game.
usually 7.9 but i would make exceptions in a few cases...
1. if its a new game that is based on an older series...
2. if its a game ive relly been looking forward to...
3. if its a game ive played and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
