I know awards only are analysts [editiors from ign.com, gamespot.com, etc......] grading a game using certain critia, but like the movie industry which has the "Oscars" as the most imporant night and award which counts. Does the gaming industry have a important award that game developers want to win? Casue i know good actors want to win the "Oscars"

nothing like the Oscars in gaming. The Spike stuff doesn't count. To be honest I don't think I would even care for one.

There really isn't one. I don't think anyone can agree on a good critic of gaming.

When games like Metal Gear Solid 4 win story of the year, it's hard to take gaming awards seriously

So you don't think MGS4 deserved the "best story" of 2008? Please don't say Fallout 3 should have won.... lol..... that game has hole in the storyline as well as the PS3 version being tech behind the Xbox 360 and the PC.

The closest thing to an 'oscars' that we have, at least in the US, is the Game Developer's Choice Awards that happens at the Game Developer's Conference each year. Now, no award show is perfect, but this is one that typically does an okay job (though I know people who will call the whole thing BS for not having Resident Evil 4 win any awards when it came out), and the majority of the voting is done by members of the professional game development community, as far as I can see.

At least you didn't say the Spike VGAs. Any gamer take that seriously?

Agreed. While most developers probably enjoy receiving an award from any media outlet, GDC is special.

Nah Fallout's story was much too weak and short but there is no way MGS 4 should win. With a story that contrived and that eager to just boil everything down to nanotech and conspiracy theories... There's a reason that there's not an MGS movie and that is because the plot is more convoluted than Spiderman 3, Xmen 3 and The Dark Knight all put together with a splash of 24, Lost and Prison Break thrown in there.
