Popping in Disc 1 of Final Fantasy VIII into the Playstation and watching in awe for the first time the opening CGI. Followed by playing the game, finishing the game and doing it again (this time finding all the easter eggs).

The ending of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which is possibly the best ending any game can gave and possibly one of the best games ever. The ending is so dramatic and conclusive that by the end of the game you feel as if u have watched a classical action movie.

Playing the slide level in Mario 64 a couple months before the US version came out. This was at a Walmart and it was like rediscovering gaming. After that, I begged my parents for an N64 and did all sorts of chores for it. After spending the night at a friend's house, my parents said I looked tired and needed to take a nap. I crashed on my bed but the pillow seemed to be made of cardboard. I threw up the covers and there was an N64 and Mario 64! This was at launch time too, I have no idea how they managed to do it. But boy oh boy, I was the happiest 8 year old ever.

Getting to work on a new fighting game. Checking out characters, new moves, new tactics. It's like a box of chocolates.

This is going way back, but back when I was a kid playing the original Legend of Zelda I had a moment that I don't think I've ever been able to top. For weeks me and my friends were trying to find the Level 7 Labyrinth, and were having no luck at it atall. We figured it had something to do with that one lake without the fairy, but we tried just about everything and nothing worked. So after another day of failing to find it at the lake, we decided to go the opposite side of Hyrule and look there. So I took out the flute to warp to the other side, and all of the sudden the lake started glowing and BAM we see stairs.

All of us flipped out like we had won the lotto. We got on the phone and called half the kids in my 5th grade class since we were all stuck in the same spot, and the next day I was a hero. I never had another moment like that, and with the internet and gaming magazines, there aren't really in-game secrets like that anymore than can frustrate groups of people at one time like that. It may have been 20 years ago, but it was a great moment.

Bar none the best moment I've had was when I was fighting the last boss on Earthbound/Mother 2 for the first time. I felt so alone and despaired as my party was hanging on by a thread.. and all you could do was pray.

That's a good one. I completely agree.

There were a couple of absolute golden moments in FFVII including using the final Omni-Slash on Sephiroth, breeding a golden chocobo (for no reason) and of course that moment...you know which one I mean.

The appearance of the T-rex in Tomb Raider was pretty amazing as well.

I had been playing "Gran Turismo 4" with my girlfriend and was getting hungry so I went into the kitchen to make a sandwich.....
I started to hear my controller rumble over and over and over and constant wall crash sounds.....
I finished making my sandwich and walked back into the living room.....
I found my g/f constantly crashing into the wall with the controller in between her legs.....
I silently thanked the gaming gods and just stood there and watched for a few minutes until she was done.....

Then I said "Hey baby....." and scared the crap out of her.....
She was so embarrassed.....

Yeah, I also like the feeling you get when you get unstuck in a game after being stuck forever...

Finally beating the final boss in FFXII. I spent months without playing, and I turned around and beat the boss! I was excited.

The one moment that comes to mind is from Wind Waker, as you enter Hyrule Castle and find it greyed and in suspended animation. Great stuff.

Whenever I was playing Halo co-op with my freind. He threw a grenade and it landed near me and instead of saying " watch out for the grenade " or something, he said "Oh Sh*t!" and I said"what?" and blew up.

Not a favourite, but a recent memory: Beating Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the hardest possible difficulty. Even more awesome because Bison is ridiculously overpowed in that game...

I still sorta smile when I see http://youtube.com/watch?v=KS7hkwbKmBM

Personal favorite moments in gaming were probably all from competitive Quake many years ago. Some sense of accomplishment every time you kill a main boss in WoW as well.

The pride of having finally gotten past a part where you've been ridiculously stuck for a long time, in any game.

And in the earlier FF games, setting out on your adventure and hearing the FF theme play. That's always an awesome moment.
