I have quite a few.
Unwrapping a medium sized box on christmas morning to find a Sony Playstation inside.
The first time i played Resident Evil.
When i was 10 i used to get up at like 3am and play Twisted Metal and Doom until dawn.
Having Resident Evil marathons with a few of my friends. We would all bring our consoles and extra tvs to my friends basement and basically spend a day or 2 playing all the Resident Evil games.
Mine would have to be when my best friend and I used to stay up all night playing old school PC games while listening to some great rock music. Their is nothing better then playing Half Life, System Shock 2, Quake 3, WOW2, and Doom while listening to BlackSabbath,Rammstein, Powerman 5000, Korn, and Marilyn Manson. What is your best gaming memory?Shenmue_JehutyCopse humping my first online opponent, psych! It really was when I beat Batman: Return of the Joker, I don't know why that game's ending stuck with me.
There are three that stand out.
The day that me and my dad drove up to Toys R' Us to get the NES with the SMB/Duckhunt combo cart. I was eight and still easily overwhelmed by the simple things in life.
The day after I got FF7 I called in to work after about four hours of sleep and told them that I had diarrhea, I wanted to make damn sure that there were no questions asked, I then played another sixteen hours or so.
On the eve of the infamous 9-11 a friend and I stayed up all night to beat Gain Ground for the Genesis we were overtired and would accuse the game of cheating and then laugh so hard that we cried every time we had to start over, but we got through in the end and moved on to Rampart which was a whole new can of worms.
Unwrapping a big heavy box to find an Xbox inside then staring wide eyed into the wonder that was Halo.
Unwrapping a DVD shaped box to find Wii Play with a wiimote, then finding a Wii in the box next to it...
The first time I played Wii Sports, Experiencing Brawl the first time, Finishing Halo...
I can also remember a lot of Playing SNES with my uncle, and games like Goldeneye, MK64, Smash brothers etc. on the N64
Good times...
Well I have quite a few actually.
When I went to this store called Caldours(which is no longer open) and my sister-in-law bought me Bushido Blade 2 for PS which is an absolutely awesome game. I remeber playing that game like every day and my favorite character was always Chihiro which I pronounced Cheerio at the time. xD
Another good memory was when my best friend at the time used to come over like every Saturday and bring his Gamecube (I didn't have one at the time) and some good games. We would play for hours on Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Godzill.
Buying my PS2 Slim which was September 2007.
There's so many.
-Playing old school arcade games in Chuck E. Cheese and other arcades, those places felt like home to me
-The year I got an NES for Christmas
-Anytime I'd go to the toy store to get a new game. We had Toys R' Us and Children's Palace, and both had the little slips of paper that you'd take up to the front desk to get your game. It's a little thing, but I used to love handing the slip of paper to the clerk to get my game
-Staying up all night with the rest of the neighborhood playing stuff like Baseball Stars, Pro Wrestling, Metroid, SMB, etc.
-Our guild's first Vael and Nefarian kills in World of Warcraft, with Nefarian being my favorite in-game moment ever
-The plot twist in KOTOR
-Pretty much all of Zelda OoT
One of my favorite moments was playing timesplitters 3 and my cousin was watching and we were in the level that was the haunted mansion. One part in the haunted mansion the girl that we were with (the Ai) ran into a room filled with those enemy cows and the door closed behin her, And all we heard was a bunch of cows mooing like crazy and gun fire filling the room up next door. When we opened the door we saw her and a bunch of dead cows. It is hard to explain typing, but i was laughing so hard.
Another funny moment was with my cousin as well; we were playing castlevania: curse of darkness for the ps2 and we were figting this boss who hovers above ground. THe boss was like a giant mess of bodies that fell off of it and the bodies would get up and try to attack you. And you had to run up a spriral staircase to kill the main boss. Well my cousin summoned his dragon to help fight. He hacked away at the monster and he went to the bottom of the pit to await the final part of the battle. Well when he was just standing there and his dragon was hovering right near by, the final piece of the boss fell off and landed right on his dragon. It was sooo funny. and really random.
when my dad introduced me to his brand new playstation (he injured his back so he bought one so he wouldnt be bored). It was my first gaming experience, the first game i ever played was twisted metal on his playstation. I played it with him, ive been a gamer ever since. Love Sony and love Twisted Metal.
Playing link up halo 2 with my mate... stalking him in the lv to finally jump on his head and melee him across the face matrix style... also the time i threw the grenade at his face across the other side of the lv :) perfect shot.
getting my psone on xmas when i was 10. Best xmas ever. Played driver 2 all day.
unwrapping my 360- the first console i bought by myself!.....which then failed and i got a ps3, so i replace that instead of unboxing my 360- i act like i never owned one .. knew i shouldve stuck with sony. I asked my gf to leave me alone while i unboxed my ps3 :P it was so awesome. I uploaded the photos online because i got a launch, much like everybody ended up doing.
playing games in ms-dos back in '91, '92
spending every gold coin me and my cousin had on street fighter vs. x-men during school holidays when we were like 10
playing playstation 2 'til the early hours
...too many!
I dont remember why but it took me a year and a half to go trough the legend of zelda a link to the past and I remember when I finaly finished it, I was so happy I think I never been that happy in my whole life it was something else :)
Playing the NiGHTS Into Dreams demo disc on the Saturn over and over, unlocking all the presents
Playing both Shenmue I&II for the first time
Playing the Carmageddon Splat Pack demo disc for weeks
Travelling 25 miles to a Dixons that stocked Sonic Jam on release, getting home, then watching all the movies in the theatre and being completely content.
There's just too many if I'm honest.
There's so many...
Playing Brawl for the first time stands out as a recent one. It was one of my most anticipated games ever, my brother, friends and I all being Melee addicts. Checked the updat every day. We were so pissed when we realised it was not coming out for MONTHS in NZ (it's only just come out over here now, this was back at the US launch). Then I discovered about Wii Freeloaders and we instantly ordered one and Brawl. It arrived in the mail one night about a week later and we were like hysterical with excitement. It was so awesome.
Also, playing Gears system link for the first time with friends. It was a hassle to organize, but we got it all sorted in the end. I had just got back from tramping for the majority of a 5 day weekend, was exhausted, and it was so awesome to get home, get clean, go to my friends house and just relax. It was a really cool set up, to - my friends were neighbors, so we had 4 people in each house connected with ethernet cable for some system link goodness.
Theres heaps of other awesome times that whenever I think about, they remind me why I love gaming. These are just two recentish ones that stand out.
i have so many but here is just a couple
* finishing legend of zelda link to the past on my snes
* taking three days off work after purchasing gran turismo and final fantasy 7 a week after getting my ps1 and not knowing what they were and just playing in awe at how far gaming had come
* and finally sitting with my son yesterday and playing wii sports with him for the first time and seeing the same awe in his eyes as we blunderd through the games
My favorite gaming memory happened when I was around 12 years old. I spent the longest time trying to beat The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and I finally did. That game was the first game I every beat by myself. I remember staying up on the weekends endlessly trying to figure out what to do next.
There were other games that I beat with my brother or my cousins but Link to the Past will always hold that special place in my heart for gaming since it changed the way that I look at games. I remember being so amazed by the story.
getting an n64 for christmas.
first xbox live match
playing super mario kart 64 and medal of honor frontline all night with friends.
Opening a medium size box on my birthday which appeared to be a Sega Mega Drive with Sonic the Hedgehog couldn't of been happier that day :D
Mine would be.......
Finishing Mario Bros 3 on the NES. Of course you couldn't save your game on the NES so you had to play it from start to finish. Epic.
First playing Street Fighter 2 on the SNES at a friends house after school. I didn't have a SNES then so I'd go to his house and play his. He only had SF2 and Mario Kart but we'd play them for hours. I got my SNES the next Christmas. They were good times.
Playing Halo: CE co-op with my friend. We bought some beers and played almost the full game in one sitting.
Finishing Ninja Gaiden on Xbox. There was no easy mode on the first Xbox Ninja Gaiden so I had to play on normal my first play through. I got my ass kicked too many times but I stuck with it and was so proud when I finished it. Loads of people weren't up to the challenge and quit. This includes my friend who I played Halo co-op with.
Lastly, the night I brought home my Xbox 360. Launch day 2005. I went to the midnight launch at my local Gamestation. I bought about six games with it and called into work sick.
the moment I fused the last demon in SMT:Nocturne :D making 100%!
the video when Gray Fox fights the Metal Gear is one of the best memories for me, never got bored watching it...
and , the day my mom bought me the PSX ,I was 11years old I was really happy:D
Playing some of the N64 greats for the first time. I don't think anyone can deny that Mario 64 was unlike anything before it.
When i first saw this thread i was like , i dont think i got any special memorys, but after a littel i suddenly remember all sorts of stuff.
First time we got a old ms dos home computer to play games on, first thing in my house i could play games on, before that i only played games at firends houses or my grandmas, so when we got i played duck tales, pacman, oil panic and two racing games for hours every day, god i miss those games.
Getting the ps1, me and my borther had been asking for a ps1 since our friends had it and we wanted a consoles, so at my birthday when i got up me and my brother ran into my parents rom and guess what we got, and ps1 and a spyro the dragon game for me since it was my birthday after all, and we also got to borrow a crapload of games from one person our dad worked with, i remember playing v rally micro machines and toca with my borther for hours.
My two best,^^
1) Walking across the covered gridge in oakvale in the childhood in fable. Those who played it will understand what im talking about.
2)Hooking up my 360 to my tv.
3) The car drive at the veryyyy end of halo 3. Was the most dramatic moment I ever had in a fps.
So many.
Top three would probably be:
1. Getting a Genesis w/ Sonic 2 for Christmas of 1992. My best friend and I argued who Santa brought it to first (we lived next door to each other), while playing one of the best games of all time.
2. Buying the N64 with my own money a couple of days after Christmas of 1997. I asked my mum if we could go to Toy Works and for a few days, she said no and that I wasn't wasting my money on a game system. Out of the blue, she asked if I wanted to go one day and boy was I ready. I got the system, but to my disappointment, the place had little game selection. So I bought that Wayne Gretzky hockey game. For some reason, we went to Wal-Mart afterwards and the game I really wanted, Goldeneye, was there, so I bought that and returned Gretzky. My friend I mentioned was also walking out of Wal-Mart, so that was weird....our mothers must have planned something. I get home ready to play the thing and I find out the TV in my room didn't have a spot for the cords or something, I can't remember. So I stared at the Goldeneye cart and manual all night. What made it worse was that I already experienced the game for a few months at one of my friends house, so I was extremely eager to get started on my own single player file.
3. Basically a ton of N64 memories all tie. So many memories with the top games of that day. Playing awesome solo games, having epic multiplayer every day, etc. It was at an age (12-16) where I can actually remember nearly everything to this day.
