We always seem to be talking about our favorite Nintendo system or favorite Gameboy handheld. Sega was truly the 1990's runner up that could never catch up after the commercially unsuccessful Sega /Mega CD and 32X flopped. Sega systems, including the less popular ones still had a large and loyal fan base. There are classic games and experiences that you can only get from playing a Sega console.

So whats your favorite Sega console of all time and why? What games do you like?

I would be split between the Master System and the Dreamcast, although I think I would go with Latter if I was forced to choose

I chose the Sega Mastersystem. It was my first ever console, and remains my favorite to this day. It has some great games like Altered Beast, Double Dragon, the Wonderboy and Alex Kidd series, etc. Greatest system ever IMO!!!

The Dream Cast was awesome compared to the Saturn.

It can still hold it's head high today and say I was better than most people gave me credit for.

Damn you EA for not supporting it!

The first console I had ever played and had was the Master system, I loved it and still do.

But nothing beats the megadrive/genesis, I have so many fond memories playing it as a kid.

I also had a Saturn, didn't really have anything on it.

I have to say Genesis and Dreamcast are right next to each other.

Genesis wins by a notch. The long hot summer vacations off from school back in the good old days playing Shinobi III, Batman & Robin Adventures and Sonic.

I still happen to think the Genesis is one of the top 3 systems ever, if not the best. I do love me some Master System though; spent a log of hours playing Zillion and Alex Kidd.

While Dreamcast to me is a close second,

Perhaps because I was gaming through the Saturn Era I still hold it in such high regard.

The consistancy of the quality of games and the frequency in which they were released was wonderful, you rarely went a few weeks without an AA title hitting the shelves, and you had such a diverse collection of genres on the Saturn.

Also having a built in (Yet small) hard drive was a neat feature.

The Saturn had no HD at all. It had a lithum battery-powered system back-up, like the Mega-CD had.

Regardless of what it was,

It was internal, it let me save games if my Memory cart was not in,

So let me re-phrase, since we are splitting hairs.

We're not splitting hairs in here. An HD small as it might be is a whole world different than the RAM back up system the Saturn uses.

The only Sega System I have are Mega Drive and DreamCast. Both are awseome and I have fond memories playing both and I still play them to this day. Favourite is hard to choose but I'm gonna go with Mega Drive just cause it was the 1st gaming system I owned.

Because of my stint importing I have to favor the Saturn. Puzzle Ghouls and Ghosts is fantastic, Super Tempo is just crazy and it's nice to have an extra character for Castlevania: SotN even if some of the sound effects are terribly botched. None of those were available in US which is one of the reasons for the system's failure. The push for 3D in the US shut out some of the best games on the system while pushing forward some of the most awful like The Ghen War.

If it was a purely domestic vote then I'd support the Genesis and its mutant add-on spawn.
