For a long time my greatest game of all time was Metal Gear Solid 3, however recently i dusted off my PS2 and played one of the games that was always on my backlog, Silent Hill 2. IMO Silent Hill 2 is the greatest game of all time( at least from what i have played), the game is so disturbing to play, if the goal of the developer was to make the player feel utterly disturbed, they 100% succeded. As you play on the despair just continues, the game isn't hard at all mechanically, but i found it so hard to play more than 30 mintues at a time because the game just made me feel so depressed and disturbed. The music is haunting yet beautiful, the camera angles add to the fear. SH2 is one of the only games i can think of that i would consider a piece of art that can hold its own against the best novels or films, the fact that its more than 10 years old shows how ahead of its time that game was.

I've played so many games over the years it's hard to pick just one. But if I really really had to I'd pick just one it would be Zelda A Link To The Past.

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time on the N64. A lot of great games over the years, starting for me with the NES (1st game: Super Mario Bros./ Duck Hunt). This game had it all, and was perfection in gaming form.

That's a hard one. I like many games and have also many favourite games. To pick just one is not very easy. It might be FIFA 13 because I love football and this game almost has everything.

Probably have to go with Drakan: The Ancient Gates on the PS2 because I played through it at least 6 times. Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix on the PS1 is a real close 2nd though.

Super Mario 64. Absolutely brilliant game which had a massive impact on the industry and is for me the best installment in the best franchise in video game history.

Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are always at the top for me. Not only is their design top notch and their lasting appeal nearly endless, but they are also 100% unique and unlike any other game on the market.

Not game, but Halo would be my favorite franchise. They've got a great FPS series, a strategy game, an ever-expanding Universe with my favorite icon (Master Chief). I just love everything about it; the games, books, comics, movies, multiplayer, single player, forge, theater, co-op, vehicles, Covenant, zombie-like enemy the Flood, Prometheans, etc.

If you forced me through pinching my nipples to choose one single greatest game of all-time though... Would have to say that's a very opinionated question. Which is why I gave you my favorite franchise instead :D

Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception, obviously.

While most gamers compare it to the likes of Gears Of War, Max Payne 3 and even Vanquish, I don't think that is a fair comparison. Those games focus on one element and get the most out of it in doing so. Uncharted however offers the player a number of choices in many combat situations, affording you the use of hand-to-hand, stealth, cover, gunplay and traversal. Mixing these is very satisfying.

Combat scenarios offer plenty for the player. They have a verticality to them that other games do not. Enemy types range from snipers to slow, heavily armoured enemies which will try to flank the player, faster enemies with shotguns which often run straight for the player to push them out of cover. Enemies throw grenades to push the play out into the open. Taking out specific enemies first can help the player or even give the player more high powered weapons to play with, helping even more. Using stealth can reward the player with more grenades or a small but high powered weapon early.

Naughty Dog has great attention to detail, fire which will change the game space, sand which will react to the player and the player to it, water which can be used to hide the player so they can flank, handholds which will crumble giving the world a sense of age, they are consistent and they are littered with remnants of those who may inhabit the world. These playspaces feel believable, but still translates to great game design, mixing something more tangible with some fantastical.

The sound design surprisingly gets a lot of hate, but is fantastic, great music which suits the gameplay well, often picking up and relaxing when it should. There is a difference between firing in indoor and outdoor environments. Each footstep that Drake takes has a sound, nearly every type of surface has its own unique sound. Run around in the chateau, over broken wood, then on dirt and grass, and then on a carpet, listen to the voices as they echo throughout a big room, listen to the gunfire. This game is a real treat for the ears if you take it as a whole, even the weapon sounds have more kick than ever before in the series.

I could go on and on. I do believe Uncharted 3 to be one of the best games out there and my personal favourite, I also know it's not THE best game and I'd never say it objectively is the greatest game of all time.

I couldn't decide this, there are just so many amazing games I've played, but here is my list I would pick from.

Mario Luigi Super star saga: Best gameboy advance game I've played. Humor, plot, atmosphere, and a brilliant take on a mario game as an RPG. I can safely say this is my favorite Mario game.

Pikmin 2: Creative mix of strategy and puzzle, pikmin 2 was fantastic and improved upon the first one in many ways. Atmosphere was brimming with nature, and it really felt like it was the future of earth as people deserted it and left behind all their doo dads and stuff.

Animal Crossing: Specifically gamecube, animal crossing has a deep spot in my heart as a cheerful and loveable simulation of a world of civilized animals. It is funny, interesting, and you never know what to expect.

SW Battlefront 2: So many hours put into this game. Crazy, fun battles never got boring. The thrill of working on unlocking new powers for the weapons of each class, and discovering hilarious glitches.

Portal: Deviously clever both in script and puzzles, this game hits the mark in pretty much every category.

Halo 3: Short campaign, yes, but still lots of replay value in trying to beat each mission on legendary with skulls. What makes it even more fun is playing in a party with buddies. Forge and custom games allows for some of the most expansive and imaginative competetive multiplayer games I've ever played.

I will go with P.T.O. II for Sega Saturn. Sadly I got rid of my Saturn, and I haven't played the game in 16 years.

I have lots of other games that come close though.

Man, I can't pick just one, there's so many...my favorites are definitely F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Advance Wars Dual Strike, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mega Man 2, 3, and 9, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 2, Mario Kart DS, and Resident Evil 4.

I seriously like all of these games equally.

I have to cheat a little bit and say Shenmue and Shenmue II are hands down my favorite games of all time. I've decided that if I ever become uber rich, I'm personally funding the creation of Shenmue III. It has to be made or else my life will not be complete. Not even my second favorite game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, even touches the Shenmue franchise imo.

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. I just love the immersion it gives me!

Could be Skyrim but the first Elder Scrolls game you play is usually your favorite of the series.

Littlebigplanet 2. After playing more buttbouncers than I can remember in the 16 bit era (most of them shamelessly aping Mario or Sonic) I thought I was burned out on the genre, but then I saw LBP.

What initially struck me was that it allowed for four players at once (I had been keeping an eye out for games I could play with my young daughters) and did physics based stuff I'd never seen before in a platformer (sackpeople using jetpacks to pick up weights and drop them in a bucket in order to counterbalance a heavy gate, pushing a skateboard until it picked up momentum and went down a hill under its own power).

Of course, what gave it its tremendous legs and has kept me and my daughters playing since the LBP1 beta is the ability of players to build levels and share them. My daughters and I use create mode as a kind of sandbox, but a lot of more focused people use the create mode to craft really wonderful levels.

From a first time impression? Definitely Ocarina of Time. No game has ever impressed me as much as that game when I first played it back in 98. As far as overall quality goes, its a toss up between OoT and Metroid Prime...

I consider games the greatest by genre. One in particular that I would like to talk about is Kingdom Hearts which is an RPG. When that game was released in 2002, there was no game like it. KH is an action adventure-rpg hybrid with hints of platforming. Characters can move freely in the game world, attack and use combos. The moveset can be chosen by the player in the menu. There is a large number of weapons which can be equipped Magic can be used and levels up and spirits can be summoned. While certain games such as Final Fantasy includes weapons, magic, and summons, it is traditionally turn based or uses Active Time Battle (ATB) within the battles. All the gameplay in Kingdom Hearts is real-time and there is no special stops of movement within the game in order for a battle to begin or end. When this game came to stores, I thought RPGs as a whole were revolutionized and I still think that but nearly ten years later, rpgs still use tun based gameplay. Unlike the shooter genre which changed with 3rd person shooters the gen of the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, the majority role playing games continue to use outdated turn-based mechanics. It works for some games, but I am surprised more games do not follow in Kingdom Hearts' example. Perhaps the actual revolution will come with Final Fantasy Versus XIII which is supposed to play similar to Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts III.

Grand Theft Auto. The greatest series of all time IMO. Grand Theft Auto IV is my favorite game of all time but GTA V is coming out this year...
