i just got done playing the demo of Enslaved odyssey to the west and at first i thought it was okay but after playing the demo im REALLY looking forward to this game as im attracted to the main character's personalities and situations and not only that the voice acting is really good. so now seeing as story driven games are on my head, i was wondering what everyone elses favorites are.
Fahrenheit is basically a movie, but the story is well done. Dragon Age: Origins has a slightly more shallow story, but it is VAST in detail. Shenmue has a large story driven gameplay aspect, be it slow, like the rest of the game. But these are the key ones that come to mind (for now).
Xenogears is my all-time favorite. Followed by: Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy series Lunar series Suikoden series Valkyria Chronicles Shin Megami Tensei series
Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger, two of my favorite RPGs of all time, had some of the best stories I've seen in gaming as well. Forgot to mention those two!
I really thought Bioshock was a very interesting story-driving game. The story was unique, and the atmosphere and environment put it over the top. Something about being deep under the ocean was just really cool. When you were walking and you could look out into the abyss and see neon lights across the way to other parts of the city along with fish and other types of marine life swimming along; was one of my favorite aspects of the entire game.
