Spyro 2 was the best of the series imo.
I haven't played it in many years though, might feel dated now.
I didn't much care for Spyro and Crash games. They didn't click with me like Ape Escape and Klonoa on PS1.
This sounds odd to me because it seems common amongst Spyro fans that the first game plays way different then the rest of the series on all other consoles, which is why I asked for hopeful differences, but now I'm even more confused because you basically just told me they played the same.The Spyro games on PSone are probably some of my favorite of all time. I've beaten them countless times. If you didn't like the first one don't bother with the rest. Whatashame.

Pretty much. The only notable difference is that you don't free dragons you collect orbs in 2 and in 3 it's dragon eggs. Other than that they are very close.
Spyro along with Crash, are two trilogies that make the PS2 and 3 lag behind the PS1 for me. Spyro 2 and 3 are similar to 1, but also different. Both add new things, especially 3. If you could find 2 for cheap, try it out, imo, the easiest of the 3 by a good margin.
2 and 3 had more narrative and plot, more to do, more characters, 3 adds different playable character as well. If you didn't like the first, that the rest might not be your fancy either, but as others have told you, they DO feel different. The first game is my least favorite of the 3.
I like em. Good games. The series went downhill after PS1 games. Not terrible games by any means, but they just don't have the same charm as the PS1 games.
The original will always be my favorite since it's the most nostalgic for me. I had a demo disc with the first level on it, and I played that demo sooooo many freaking times before I even got the game.
[QUOTE="Amnesiac23"] I think nostalgia may play a large factor...Masenkoe
Oh probably but still, they have aged very well all things considered.
This is true. They have aged better than some other platformers of the time.I played the first one and I liked it. I also played the one with the skateboard-level. spyro 3? Which I found was even better.
