What is your opinion of Rockstar?

How do you guys feel about Rockstar? What is their track record like for you?

For meGTA 3, VC, SA, Chinatown were great. 4 was a major letdown. Manhunt was really cooland even though2's story was pretty awesome the censors ruined that game. I thought the lure mechanic especially was pretty awesomeand the shadow mechanic was good. Thats about it for me. The Warriors was fun but empty, ping pong...yeah i will get around to that one.... Bully was crap and was totally shallow, midnight club racing doesnt feel very good although I like how you could make your own custom race tracks around the cities.

The biggest reason I loved Rockstar was for GTA but after playing Saint's Row I could care less about the GTA franchise. After seeing all the killer crazy stuff Volition packed into a free roam game GTA looks like the only thing rockstar knows how to do is design buildings and maps.So anyways Rockstar has fallen out of my favorite developer list.

Oh well this thread was for Gamer_4_fun, not for me to rant about GTA.

I think they make generally superb games and they don't flap their gums while they're doing it. They're also pretty good at letting their titles do the talking.

So I'd say I view them pretty favorably.

Their games don't interest me most of the time (I love Vice City though) but I recognize that the games are well made and the effort that they put into it.

They are one of the few companies thatpossess both balls and talent and they have set the mold for much of what we are currently playing today.

And regarding GTAIV: It did things that many people still don't fully grasp or appreciate.

Also, Bully is an awesome, awesome game that deserves a full blown HD sequel.

The big 3 do more to crush creative freedom than legislators. IE banning AO games. Legislators just dont want retailers to sell games to underaged kids.

Lets see Rockstar tell Sony to go---- themselves cuz the next GTA is AO....
