I play my old PS2 and PC games a lot. I just happen to find them a lot more enjoyable in some cases especially when it comes to RPGs and survival horror games.

The games. The controllers. The old feel. It's different playing Sonic The Hedgehog on the Wii then playing it on the Genesis.

Some of the games available on the older systems aren't available on the newer ones. Sometimes, it's as simple as that.

I got them because they were the current systems at the time, and I wanted them. I still love them more than the current stuff because the games were better back then, in most cases.

A lot of developers back then actually cared to make very good quality games. Especially during the SNES era..not taking anything away from the NES, but you gotta admit the SNES had all the cream of the crop RPGs, and side scroller platformers.

Final Fantasy III and Donkey Kong Country anyone?

Today you get an average game with amazing graphics unless you know you can find some great games.

Ratchet and Clank, New Final Fantasy, Call of Duty...etc.

the games made now don't have the quality and stories and music like they used too..... like movies, iits all about how it looks now and the computer effects.... eiffel towers falling down, but games and movies once had engaging stories, making games more like living an amazing novel where u get emotional about the characters.... its somthig u don't see much anymore.....

the games, paired with nostalgia, i think.

i love both the Wii and the PS3 (Fallout 3 is eating into almost all of my free time these days), but I doubt there will be games that can compare to the greatness of Super Castlevania, Final Fantasy 3 or F-Zero.

Yes that's the key. Now developer's and the stores care about pushing a $60 piece of junk down your throat until next month's $60 piece of junk comes out. And then they somehow want to call video game developement art? I won't say that there are no new games that are amazing, because they are, but back on the old systems there was a major effort to make games fun and last for a long time. Even if the game sucked you could usually find something you liked about it.

while my memories go back to Electric football and table hockey i no longer yearn for the crappy games with pixel so large the characters look like blobs of unorganized colour.

I love my PS2, PS3 and I also play on my sisters Wii and 360. The more advanced graphics are awesome and while I did love some of the old games at the time I have replayed a few of them and even Wolfenstein on the PS3 was a huge disappiontment because it is so primitive looking and the same thing over and over.

because I couldnt care less about the graphics and since I grew up in the 90s (the first game I ever played was Golden Axe), I spent a fair amout of time playing those games. so im willing to accept the gameplay mechanics and graphics these games do.

if a game was good then, its good now

What keeps you listening to older music or watching older movies?

No new games can compare to the greatness that is and plays on the SNES. Chrono Trigger... I mean, Chrono Trigger...

I feel that games from older generations were created to be fun and push the envelope despite the limitations of the hardware. Somehow developers had to figure out tricky ways to pull things off, therefore resulting in more creative, fun products such as much of the classics of the SNES and Genesis era. Also, a part that keeps me involved with last gen games (PS2 and GC in particular) is that the games of that gen have the sufficient hardware power to both offer innovative gameplay and involving storytelling without relying to heavily on visual splendor (although I have to admit that there are some really beautiful games on last gen still) but most importantly, older games where complete packages, 99.99% bug free and were complete packages on ship day. Now it seems developers are getting lazier and greedier with the games they release. Now games ship with glaring bugs that have to be patched on day one and are stripped of basic content that should have been on the disk just so the developer could rip off the player of a few more extra bucks (SFIV costumes as a glaring example).

Nostalgia, and to me there aren't that many good games for 360 or PS3 right now. Plus I have an extensive collection of PS2 games already, so getting a new console wouldn't be a smart thing for me to do since I have over 120+ games and I've only beaten about 40 of them. Lol!

While I disagree that there aren't many good games for the current gen (there are tons of them I want), I do agree about the last-gen backlog. Around 263 for Xbox out of which I've only completed 17...

A lot of new games are boring and have basically all the same to me, the old ones have some awesome games that are really fun, originaland revolutionary, now most games are just shoot and kill over and over...

I still play my PS2 because the games are dirt cheap and there's a huge library of them out there that I haven't played. I've got a PS3 as well (and I absolutely love it), but I can probably buy 5 or 6 PS2 games for the price of 1 PS3 game. And they're great games. Not hi-def, but I had decades of fun playing games before hi-def came along, and they're still just as fun as they ever were. There are some real classics out there. I just started on Gran Tourismo 4 and I'm absolutely loving it.

For me it's because older games are more fun and actually had to have good gameplay instead of distracting people with "THE AWEZOME GRAFICS!". And while major companies no longer make games for them, I cannot say I've played the entire Dreamcast library. And I would rather play Jet Grind Radio any day of the week over Modern warfare2 or Uncharted 2 or Halo 3. I'd rather play Punch out over those three. Or Mega Man 1-8. I'm still playing games on the old system that came out decades ago, but are new to me as I've never played them.

Personally this gen has been the weakest for me. There hasn't been a single title to truly knock me off my feet this gen.

Their games. There are tons of gems hidden in these old consoles that can be found for a cheap price. And you dont have to wait for new releases because the library is already complete. I remember getting my PS2 pretty late and i could just go to the store and see tons of games that i want.

I'm not a nostalgia gamer, but there are some old games that are just plain ageless. Thankfully many of the old good cartridge games came out on PS2/PS3. I have the Mega Man and MM X collections, along with The Ultimate Genesis Collection, Sonic's Mega Collection, Super Street Fighter 2 HD, and the original Metal Gears on MGS3 Subsistence. That covers a huge amount of my favorite old-school titles so I'll probably never buy a replacement Genesis or Nintendo. I sure do miss Contra, Road Rash, and Shadowrun though.

I'm 15, and like the old consoles myself, mainly because I grew up with a Gameboy, and a Super Nintendo. Though, I also like new stuff, but old stuff also has a fantastic appeal. Heck, I keep finding old games that I like, so I brought a Retro Duo.

well the fact u don't need online play or hear young kids screaming over the mic to get their point across plus the game play they were cheaper the game commericals were better ( ps1 commericals LOL ) the systems didn't have rings of death and didn't freeze up on u in the middle of the game plain and simple just FUN all around when u bought a game u stuck with it until u beat it cause us older gamers ( 27 ) didn't have DLC every month to sucker us in to buying more crap for the game . i can honestly say when i turn on my ps1 i know that ill have a good time instead of a repeat experience .

Gaming was simpler, and just much more enjoyable back then in my opinion. Just plug in a bunch of controllers and play N64 all day. And honestly, the games were more fun. Graphics never took the place of lasting appeal or value. There have been some great games this generation, but most people who grew up in the 90s would agree that none of these new consoles have been as fun and satisfying as those from previous generations. I hope it improves :-)

Well it's probably because I grew up playing Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World on my older sister's SNES. (Even though I should have been playing on a N64/GameCube) Lately I have been wanting to get some VC games like Super Metroid and OoT:)
