What kind of setting do you prefer when play a game? Do you like areas built upon from fantasy, futuristic areas, wastelands, or any other kind? And how do you prefer the ally/enemy interaction in the game? Do you prefer of them being aware of you or them to be unsuspecting?

My personal favorites are when I am in a closed area with alot of placces to take cover and enemies to be unaware of my presense so I can do stealth kills, an open area, like a field with an ability to ride a horse (Zelda, Assassins Creed), or just an area where I use rooftops and ledges as my platform (POP, Assasin's Creed).

I like having to survive on limited resources or story ddriven games.

As for setting, my favorite would be dystopian future or post apocalypse.

I like enemies that try to outsmart you adn act realisticly.

I like futuristic or fantasy, i don't hate wasteland areas but they give me the "lost" feeling (like fallout 3) I like my enemies unsuspecting but when they see you, you can fight them normally like MGS games

rather than setting, I'm more interested in mood.

How the music is in play and how the game sets up it's atmosphere is what makes difference to me.

Generally, Western games tends to alienate me due to lack of music and absence of artificial mood set up (Half Life 2, Fallout 3, etc)

While Japanese game with dramatic scenes and music tends to make me feel at home (Final Fantasy, Disgaea, etc)

I'm sorry did u say Half Life 2 had no mood? Because i found City 17 to be one of the most engrossing environments I've ever experienced in a game.

I like a wide variety of settings including fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, historic. I would definitely like to see more games being set in contemporary and historic times. Apart from simulations, most games draw inspiration from history, but almost always have some sort of fantasy element. I would like to see a completely realistic medieval RPG. Or a The Warriors type brawler set in 19th century New York.

I enjoy Medieval fantasy worlds with many unique regions, and Metroid's style was cool too.

I'm currently playing Infamous, and all of the desolation in Empire City is incredible.
Of course, you don't see much of the Ray Sphere's havoc until the final area, the Historic District. Ironically, the very first segment of the game takes place there, with Cole surrounded by a giant crater and flaming wreakage. I loved it.
I wrote artificial mood set up.

Half-Life 2 was pretty "let the setting be the mood"

artifical mood set up i meant by using music or dramatic cut scenes to set that mood, which other-wise wouldn't be present in the game.

and to be honest, Half Life 2 had most dull world I've ever seen in game, but that's more of personal preference.

Surrounded by corpses, those walls with what looks like peoples faces etched into them. That sort of thing.

I think even though I mainly play WoW I love a space setting like EVE or Freelance the most.

The wasteland in fallout 3 is ideal for me. I like to think about the history of it and explore and wonder what went on where I am exploring.

I like a variety of settings. For instance, I'm currently playing Wii Sports Resort, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, The Conduit, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Call of Duty: World At War. These are varied settings and I'm enjoying all of them.

Those are great settings in these games. I personally enjoy Wii Sport Resort's setting a lot to tell you the truth.

I like games with a modern day setting, or even near-future.

While the gameplay itself doesn't necessarily have to be realistic, I prefer games where the actual setting resembles real modern life. Like Half-Life for example.

I like all sorts of settings I geuss(Fallout 3 to Oblivion to OoT to Spliter Cell type settings)...as for enemies, I like when they are aware of you, and are fairly intelligent (I like stealth in games)...I don't mind enemy characters showing up at random spots, instead of knowing exactly where an enemy is going to be, but I don't care for games that have an infinate amount of enemies coming at you for ever out of nowhere..

cyberpunk or dystopian urban games. I feel pretty much at home in "darker" citys.

Wastelands are also pretty high up there,

Beautiful nature. Examples: Calm Land in FFX, Cyrodiil in Oblivion, the whole world of Shadow of the Colossus

I hate wastelands and post-apocalytic setting. I just can't stand seeing/looking at a dirty, messy, wrecked place.
