Basically, temporarily forget about the games as if you never played them, until you complete them again?

I would LOVE to play Tomb Raider 1 and 2 again from scratch. This is actually what made me think of this thread. I was on a GameSpot forum for Tomb Raider and the guy said he recently brought the games. So many fun, creepy and epic times would be had!! :D

Also the same for Resident Evil 2 (I don't mind so much with RE3). I still have the original to look forward to for the first time however, since I never actually completed it.

GTAIII, Vice City AND San Andreas. Such great games and it would be great fun to play these again for the first time!

The original Call of Duty and its' expansion pack, United Offensive. This would be so awesome! especially if I got addicted to the multiplayer of the original 2 again just like when I first played it! the campaigns are awesome and full of nostalgia now too! ahh, great games :D.

Guitar Hero. Playing the original again for the first time would be an interesting thing indeed! :D

Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3. I have never completed these, but it would probably be better if I could just completely erase my memory from these games and start them again. So not only would I be having fun experiencing "new" levels to me, but I would also be re-experiencing the ones I know a lot!

Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3. Regardless of the fact that I have only played and completed Sonic 3 for the first time just over a month ago, I would love to still complete these 3 again with no temporary memory whatsoever. It would be awesome!

There are some of mine. What about you guys? :D.

For me it would be Earthbound first.

Others would be Secret of Mana/Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2, Silent Hill 1 & 2, Final Fantasy III/VI, Donkey Kong Country, and River City Ransom, just to name a few.

Gotta go with Rayman 2, Rayman 3, Shadow of Destiny, Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit), Vice City and San Andreas (:P) also those disaster games that are for PS2 (can't remember the name at the moment :P) All these games I can replay them a 1000 times and still enjoy them. :)

I TOTALLY AGREE with you on ALL of the games you listed! Especially on GTA III. I can still go back and play San Andreas, but GTA III is painfull now, because I know how the controls improved in San Andreas. Guitar Hero is another one I particular really enjoyed at first, but it's hard to go back and play. The Guitar Hero Arcade game at Dave&Busters is just horrible compared to playing it on the ps2 for the first time.

a couple games I'd add to your list are Road Rash 1 and 2 on Genesis. Air Combat for ps1, and Twisted Metal for Ps1. Ya know sometimes I just pop in an older game and start from the beginning, but with some games the first few levels are so easy and familiar, then as you get later into the game it feels more fresh. That's why I never trade in my games or sell them. sometimes i nearly forget games, so playing them again feels almost new.

Psychonauts, i was one of the hipsters who actually bought it and i loved it, until it ended. the game is pretty short and lacks replay value, i plan to replay it in a few more years. Resident Evil, not sure how i'd react in 2012, but back in 96 resident evil was literally mindblowing.

I don't know if I would totally erase games from my mind, I mean I have so many good memories.

But if so, I would like to do on the followings:

  • Spyro (first trilogy)
  • Crash Bandicoot (first four games)
  • Grand Theft Auto (Vice City and San Andreas)
  • World of Warcraft
  • Final Fantasy (IX, XII)
  • God of War (I, II)

Morrowind

Morrowind for XBox, for sure. When I first played it, I had never played another game like it my life. No other game had so much to do, so much environment and NPCs to interact with, such an open-world. It was jaw-droppingly amazing. The game was just huge and insanely immersive for the time. Nothing else compared back then.

King's Field

King's Field (U.S. edition) on PS1 would be another I'd love to experience for the first time again. Exploring the dark, dangerous world that makes up King's Field was an experience, for sure. You were completely on your own in this game, no game guide, no NPC to hold your hand, you were dropped at the edge of an island where you had shipwrecked and that's it. You then proceed to multiple areas only to encounter death, that's when you discover this game isn't gonna be like your average video game. You then take a more cautious approach as you explore the caverns and catacombs that fill the depths of this island, upgrading your weapons, armor, and magic along the way. The game really gives you this sense of loneliness and danger.

SMB Duck Hunt

Of course nothing beats the first time I played Super Mario Bros. on NES. That was the moment I truly fell in love in gaming. Just the pure joy of getting firepower, jumping on a Goomba, breaking blocks, and making my way to the goal to the right was like a euphoric high. I played this at a friends house. After that, NES became like digital crack to me, I just couldn't get enough, and I wouldn't shut up about it. My mom and Grandpa went in on halfs to get me one for Christmas when I was like 6 or 7. I got Star Soldier, Legend of Zelda, Pin-Bot, TMNT 1 with it, and of course the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cartridge that came with the NES. We did have an Atari 2600 in my older sister's room before that, but I'd get bored with the Atari 2600 rather quickly. I have Mario to thank for my love of gaming that continues to this day.

Sonic Adventure 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Final Fantasy VI, Zelda Windwaker, and Tales of the Abyss (though I have forgot much of it already in preparation for the 3DS version). Nice topic by the way, I often find myself wishing this when the current-gen blues got me down.

This is gonna sound dorky, but the original Pokemon Blue or Red. When it first came out, it was mind-blowing and awesome to me because there was just a billion things to do.

World of Warcraft. (Does that count? lol) Being a noob in WoW was so much fun, it was such a great experience. Playing WoW was my first TRUE online gaming experience. It was such a great feeling, entering a huge, virtual world that I could explore. The idea of a world as big as Azeroth could exist in a game was impressive to me at the time. It wasn't only the size of the world that impressed me, it was also the fact that those were REAL PEOPLE I saw when playing WoW. Not everyone was an NPC. I felt like I was a part of a real world.

Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Legendia. There were something magical about playing both of those games for the first time. I LOVE the sense of adventure I get when playing JRPGs. Hearing all of Tales of Legendia's amazing music for the first time was a great experience.

Actually, I'm not getting how you're saying that in the way of "as if you hadn't played it before".
Because, the thing about video-games is, although it's a little different when you know them, they stay pretty fresh.
I mean, I will go and play on my Sega or play an old PC-game and play it like it's new, no problem.
It's not like a movie, those are easier to... be "spoiled", in my experience, and it takes a LOT more time for them to become "like new" again.

But, again, that's my experience.

If I had to pick one I could start over on... pff... I don't knowww...
'The Need For Speed' and 'Need For Speed II' were really cool experiences.
'Wolfenstein 3D', that's one that is a little hard to enjoy today being so old and all.
Myeah, some more games of around that time.
But most later games I can pretty much go and experience again as if they were new I find.

What he's saying is if you had all memory of the game erased, which one would you love to play again, as it would be brand new to you.

When I think about it I'd rather not go the amnesiac path. Simply because legacy games will seem too archaic, no matter how well they played back in the day, and I simply don't have time to play such classics and will have to regretfully skip them. I'm just glad I experienced them back in the day.

However, if you asked me this question 6 years ago, I'd say all RE, MGS, and PSX FF games.

The first three 3D zelda games, OoT, MM and WW, so that I could recapture some of the child like wonder I felt when I first played them. I don't care what anyone says, those games will always hold a special place in my heart.
