That is, consoles outside of the typical Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft lines. I owned Phillips CD-I (kudos if you've even ever heard of it). It actually had exclusive Zelda games (which were the first Zeldas I ever played) - of course, they were awful, but I didn't know any better at the time. I still have fond memories of the system, even if it was - objectively speaking - a piece of crap.
I also had a Philips CDI. And yes it was a pile of crap overall. I got sucked in on the hype of the vcd's, better picture than vhs they said on the advertising. lol yeah right. At the slightest moment of action the picture would pixellate like mad and make it unwatchable for a few secs.
Yes it had a few games, Micromachines, Zelda, oh Mad Dog Mcree, intertactive encylopedias etc but that was about it.
i had a tiger gamecom. it was b&w with touchscreen and the potential for internet access. that was like 96-97 probably. never got the internet though, i dont think it had much purpose anyway.
Although it's made by Nintendo -- I had a Virtual Boy, which wasn't really "mainstream". I thought Mario Tennis was actually decent, but the strain it put on my neck just wasn't worth it.
The Neo Geo Pocket Color, the very reason for that handheld existance were its fighting games and Capcom Vs SNK: Match of the Millennium was it´s crowning jewel.
