What are the rarest video games you own, and how much do they sell for used/new? I'm curious because I got a few rare games myself. Note that all new/used prices are based on Amazon/Ebay listings. 1: Metroid Prime Trilogy: Collectors Edition (Wii) - A game that was released in limited quantities, It mixed the 3 Metroid Prime games together with the Wii controls from MP3 Price: $209.99 (New) 70$ish (Used) 2: Metroid Prime (Gamecube) - One of the games in the aforementioned trilogy above, but the earlier one released on the Nintendo Gamecube. Price: 70$ (New) 11$ish (Used) 3: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Gamecube) One of the games in the aforementioned trilogy above, but the earlier one released on the Nintendo Gamecube. Price: 75$ (New) 18$ish (Used) 4: Sonic Adventure DX: Directors Cut (Gamecube) - A port of Sonic Adventure that was originally on the Dreamcast and released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2003. I USED to own the original Dreamcast release, but I lost all my Dreamcast games, sadly... Price: (For Gamecube release) 70$ (New) 15$ish (Used) 5: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (Gamecube) A port of Sonic Adventure 2 that was originally on the Dreamcast and released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002. I never owned the original Dreamcast release of Sonic Adventure 2, it goes for 200$ right now. P.S. I actually own TWO copies of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, one of them was my primary copy, which crashes when loading the Cosmic Wall stage through the Stage Select. The other copy I have just sits around incase my main one stops working I have a spare copy. Price: (For Gamecube release) $137.88 (New) 20-30$ (Used) 6: Kororinpa Marble Mania (Wii) A game that was released in 2009, and when the company "Hudson" (Who I believe worked on the Mario Party games) Was bought by Konami they canceled all the projects of Hudson and this game is no longer available brand new, it is out of print. Price: $50 (New) $16 (Used) 7: Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition (Wii) For Mario's 25th Anniversary Nintendo released a "limited edition" Mario collection with Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3 and the Lost Levels. It was originally released in December 2010 with very limited quantities and for a short time the game was selling for $90-100 in brand new condition, which is nearly triple the original MSRP of $29.99. I actually got this one when it came out, I was one who got a copy from the first batch they printed of the game, I can even show you a pic of it if you want. Price: $45 (New) $39 (Used) 8: Kirby: Return to Dreamland Kirby's Return to Dream Land was released in October 2011 and is a brand new story with Wii remote style controls. The game is similar to other Kirby platformers with skill copying abilities and also includes up to 4-player co-op. Price: $43 (New) $40 (Used) 9: The Original Fat Playstation 3 System. You know, the one that was available for $599 US DOLLARS!? Nah, I got it for way less I just don't remember what I paid, lol. The limited-release Star Wars Battlefront PSP Entertainment Pack, will allow owners to experience their favorite Star Wars battles any way -- and anywhere -- they want with a special "Ceramic White" PSP featuring a silk-screened image of Darth Vader on the back of the unit. Price: $314.99 (New) 64.99 (Used) 11 (My favorite of the bunch): Cross Edge Nothing sets a game collector's heart a-flutter quite like obscure, limited run Japanese RPGs. Cross Edge, published by Nippon Ichi Software America, fits the bill perfectly. A crossover RPG featuring characters from Capcom, Namco Bandai, Gust Corporation, and the publisher Nippon Ichi, Cross Edge is a traditional Japanese RPG that you may not have even heard of. It launched in 2009, right in the midst of the first Infamous and Prototype games, and copies were hard to come by from the beginning. If you love RPGs and you missed Cross Edge, well...prepare to pay a pretty hefty catching up fee. In early July of 2010, it was confirmed through NIS America's forums that Tim Langdell and his company Edge Games had begun legal action against NIS America due to the name of the game. Tim Langdell is notorious for suing video game companies over properties that contain the word "Edge". However, since his removal from the IGDA and a court decision throwing out his trademark claim to the word "edge", he has been ordered to give financial compensation to any products damaged by his litigation - including Cross Edge, and to no longer attempt to obstruct their sale. NIS America has not resumed sales of the game as of May 2012, however. In a nutshell, The game is out of print. | |
Price: $150 (New/Sealed) $100 (Used) 12: Pikmin 2 (Gamecube) Believe it or not I got my copy of this game for 2 dollars at a garage sale, and it still works great. Price: $52.88 (New) $31.74 (Used) 13: Luigi's Mansion. Ah, what a gem of a game this is. Instead of playing as Mario, you're playing as Luigi in a Mansion full of ghosts trying to save Mario, I've beaten this game countless times and still have a blast. Price: $99.99 (New) $24.99 (Used) 14: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Gamecube) Set in an era after the events in The Ocarina Of Time, this incredible adventure takes a different young hero named Link on an all-new quest. Price: $99.99 (New) $15.00ish (Used) 18: Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) The story of Resident Evil 4 follows the U.S. government special agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is sent on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the U.S. President's daughter who has been kidnapped by a sinister cult. Traveling to a remote rural area of Europe, Leon fights hordes of violent villagers and mutated monsters, and reunites with the mysterious spy Ada Wong. The game pioneered and popularized the "over the shoulder" third-person view perspective in video games. Texas chainsaw massacre still sealed in the box for Atari 2600 would probably be my rarest.
I know not all of this is "rare." The Virtual Boy games, Windjammers (Neo Geo CD) and Xenoblade Chronicles are all factory sealed. The rest are just games I had a fun time tracking down without having to resort to eBay. I will be opening Windjammers this weekend.
