Aerial shootemups with flight-sim type of controls, like X-wingvs Tiefighter.
None of this arcade-style control rubbish,( or make it an option.).

I would love to see some old school style RPG's. The kind that had their heyday on the SNES and PS1, e.g. Chrono Trigger, FF7, Xenogears. I play on PC and all we really get are those Oblivion type RPG's these days.
I would love to see a new surge of "Star Fox" like games.
I know Starfox 64 is coming to 3DS, but that's really not all that exciting considering I've won that game 100 times in a dozen different ways already.
Beat-em ups, Tycoon games, and, not sure what this is called, but those side scroller type of games where you're a plane and you shoot lasers and bullets and the like at enemy planes that shoot a hundred back. Would be great if there was something like an updated Macross game.
Those tycoon games are all over the place. Go on Steam or browse here and you will see that there is a new on released every 6 months or so. Now...are they good like some of those great old Tycoon games? Thats debatable. But I also would love some good tycoon games released. Those 2D scrolling shooter games are also all over Steam also, the indie crowd loves 'em.Beat-em ups, Tycoon games, and, not sure what this is called, but those side scroller type of games where you're a plane and you shoot lasers and bullets and the like at enemy planes that shoot a hundred back. space combat games, Project Sylpheed Xbox 360 is like the only one on consoles I can think of since the days of like Colony Wars on the PS1, hopefully Halo Reach's space combat inspires a slew of new space combat games on all the consoles, lamprey263
A 3D version of River City Ransom with the whole character progression RPG features and a quality beatemup style with coop would just be the greatest thing ever in the history of ever.
Last thing that came close to a 3D beatemup if I recall was Fighting Force.
I came here to post something similar. An updated version of Dungeons & Dragons arcade games would be pretty sweet.A 3D version of River City Ransom with the whole character progression RPG features and a quality beatemup style with coop would just be the greatest thing ever in the history of ever.

Try Scott Pilgrim vs. the World the Game, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I was.
But I think JRPGs need to make a come back. There were so many good ones on the PS2 such as Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Legendia, Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII. The PS3 is lacking JRPGs in general, the only ones I own so far are Star Ocean 4 and White Knight Chronicles. (Both fantastic games BTW.)

What? Really?? I'm going to check that out then soon after this. Hoping there is a good Tycoon game, like the great old ones you mentioned. Not these new, micro management, casual flash type things coming out one after the other ( which I do play, but it gets old real fast ) that gets lumped up in the Tycoon genre.
I've never used Steam before but isn't it only for computers? I was kind of crossing my fingers for a console version of a 2D shooter game.
Yes. RPGs that focus on story and narrative... not like Indigo Prophecy or Heavy Rain, but like Planescape: Torment, the first two Fallout games, Baldur's Gate. Deep and complex narratives, with today's graphics. That would make me very, very happy.RPGs.
There, I said it.

Actual Survival Horros IE: Resident evil 1-3, Fatal Frame, Silent Hill 2
Stealth games that have a decent story: feels like MGS4 was the only one in recent years, splinter cell has been going down hill after the second one
its not really a game, but a new source engine: be nice to see counter-strike come back, modding your game was always quite fun in a large community
Since the release of Metroid: other M, I've been replaying Super Metroid....and man.....it's almost painful because I so desperately crave another well made 2D platformer. Nothing will ever match SM's quality, but 2D should not be abandoned simply because the tech today can do better. Do people disregard and ignore old cars because new technologically better versions are available? I'm so frustrated that today's technology which could be utilized to produce another incredible 2D experience will never be done due to "poor sales", "not a big enough audience", or some other garbage excuse. It's a crime that such a rich genre of gaming is being largley ignored. Live arcade and PSN releases are a saving grace, but they still don't match up to full on productions like Castlevania: SotN.
