I am thinking of getting Battlefield 3 but I am not sure which version to get. I own a PS3 and a decent laptop and it is a harder decision than it looks like even though almost everyone agrees that the PC one is superior.

The thing is I prefer playing games on consoles by a lot and kind of dislike PC gaming in general. It is probably because I am more of a casual gamer and almost every time I was PC gaming I was having some kind of trouble, mostly because I dont know much about computers, so I just find it frustrating. I also prefer playing with a controller and if you are playing games with a controller on the PC you are going to get destroyed online. I also prefer playing on TV screen and since hooking laptop to it isnt an option for me that is another reason. The last reason is I dont know anyone that plays on PC.

Because of that I have always gotten multiplats for my PS3 and didnt play much on my laptop apart from few exclusives. My laptop is slightly more powerful than PS3, it runs most games on medium and 1366x768 but I dont really care that much about the visuals since it isnt that different.

My specs are:

Radeon HD 6770M

Intel Core i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz

4 GB RAM

With Battlefield 3 it is another story. A little better visuals are a nice thing but the real reason I cant decide which version to get are 64 players on PC and 24 on consoles. I am afraid that the bigger maps especially on conquest just feel empty and lonely and playing conquest on big maps was always my favourite part of BF. I know that they are a bit smaller on consoles but the emptines is still there. Those 2 reasons are what makes me not able to decide which version to get.

I am afraid that if I get the PC version, I will be having some kind of trouble and since I am not really knowledgable about computers and dont have that much time I am scared it will really frustrate me. Not playing with a controller or on the big screen and with nobody I know will also take a lot from the experience. On the other hand I am afraid that if I get the PS3 version, I wont be getting the full BF3 experience and that some maps will feel empty and lonely.

In the end I have been thinking just **** it, I am not getting any version. Please help me decide which one to get.

Sorry for the long post.

Yeah just make a decision already. I know you want to be completely sure but asking over and over gets annoying.

Anyway, I prefer PC, because it has 64 player support instead of 32, plus I like PC shooters way better than console shooters.

Besides, I don't have any friends I actually know on PS3, and I don't have any friends that have BF3 on PC. But don't let that stop you. Amazing game none the less. Or just convince one of your friends to get it.

I had no friends on PC to play with but still got it on PC. Most times guys there are better cos they played BF2 before and have tactics about their play style. Also you get that gorgeous eye candy. and huge maps and much more players. Its far better on PC. My friend has it on PS3 and it sucks in comparison. It's far less hectic

Then do yourself a favor and dont buy for consoles. I'm not a PC fanboy but you'll be doing yourself a major disservice...just sayin

It's really not that hard to install games on your computer. You make it sound like PC gaming is some sort of hi-tech stuff that you need to have a PhD in computer science to make it the game work. That's not the reality of it, and it's just something that console fanboys want you to believe because they don't have the brainpower to actually learn what PC gaming is. It's as simple as buying the game from Origin (store.origin.com) or buy it at retail. Then you either install the game or put the DVD in your drive. It'll install all the necessary stuff it needs to install, while asking you to press OK on this and that, which isn't very hard at all. After that, you're free to play the game! Now that wasn't hard at all was it? It's literally a very simple process, much like putting a disc in your console. If you still don't feel comfortable, get the console version. The game is still worth getting, and you'll still have fun with it. By the way, don't get a laptop for gaming (or get a better one at least next time). You might say that PC gaming is expensive, but I'm pretty sure that laptop cost you around $800 retail price, even more. That is more than enough for a very decent PC rig to run almost all games at high settings.

Actually laptops are pretty much the same price as desktops now a days. I got my i7 laptop (6gb DDr3, 1gb HD Nividia, UBS3.0 etc.) for $700.

Yeah, but that might be a very weak graphics card though. And even if it has the name of a higher end graphics chip, the laptop counterpart is much weaker than the desktop counterpart. Add to the fact that you can't upgrade laptops, and desktops seem like the more viable choice. I totally understand if you need the mobility of a laptop, but I think laptops are basically useless for gaming other than the portability.

I like console gaming better, but I've always enjoyed the Battlefield games on PC more. It just feels and plays better with a keyboard and mouse imo.

For multiplayer games I usually get it for whatever platforms my friends are getting it for. If that's not an issue, the PC version supports 64-player conquest which is a nice advantage. But if you prefer console I'm sure you'd be happy with that version too.

It depends on what you have. If you have a 360, get that version. Same with PS3.
