I was just talking with my friends about the new Prince of Persia and he was telling me that how better it was from the previous two games and the mature factor and the "obnoxious" rock music turned the series into a mediocre franchise and blah blah. But am i the only one who really enjoyed these two games? i mean i am a sucker for metal so the inclusion in the warrior within was pretty sweet for me and the mature storyline was also pretty awesome to me but why does so many people say bad things about these two games?I mean i understand that different people has different tastes but if a good game is a good game no matter what isn't it?

I don't think Ubisoft Montreal has made a bad POP game yet. I loved the entire Sands Of Time trilogy and I loved this year's new entry. People just didn't like Warrior Within's darker change in direction after the whimsical The Sands Of Time, but I personally didn't mind it. The only thing I really didn't like about WW's presentation was the change of voice actor for The Prince.

Yeah same here. i also loved the entire Sands of Time trilogy, i just don't know why so many people and critics hated the darker tone. I can understand the voice changeover but its not that big of a deal that people keep makign fun of the music and the tone.

I liked the bright desert colors from SoT and TTT. I didn't like the dark environment of WW or the forced mature feel. I'm glad they went back to SoT style in TTT. I also don't like the emo prince in TTT. All 3 games (and the new PoP) have bad combat systems. Battles were always boring. In TTT, I hated the chariot sequences, and the quick kill system didn't give you enough reaction time. If you missed even one of the 4 or 5 taps you would alert the entire group and the reinforcements were endless until you break the seal thingy which isn't easy. SoT was the best. The new Prince is alright but it's problematic as well.

I guess people thought that turning it all "badass" and throwing in a bunch of metal cheapened the feel. I can certainly understand that.

There's no quality control at UbiSoft. I hate their games, and when they innovate, it's has a gimmick feel to it. They're the next EA.

As much as I didn't like the setting, Warrior Within still had the best gameplay in the series, so it was hard to hate.

Then again, I hated The Two Thrones for trying (and failing) to recapture the spirit of the first game, when the trilogy could've gone just about anywhere after WW.

The Prince from Sands of Time, was a more sensitive character, and his voice acting was actually solid. The whole atmosphere of that game was sooooo good. The combat was repeatitive, but at that point, I didnt care, I loved the game.

Warrior Within was glitchy as hell, and the dark theme really ruined it, shattered it completely. The prince spouting swear words and other quips was just laughable. The new combat was dumb, cause I hate when action adventure games actually give you combo lists, like they're fighting games.

The Two Thrones was alright, but the voice acting sucked, the narrative sucked, and I felt the dark prince was a gimmick.

The new POP on 360 was incredibly repeatitive, had no challenge, and some of the worst dialogue I had ever seen since RE1. I enjoyed it however, because it was a nice change from all the shooters.

Sands of Time was the best POP, it went downhill from there.

It has to do with Sands of Time being so Disney looking. They abruptly changed that and it came off like they just wanted to get more buyers (which is actually true ). Truth is that from a gameplay standpoint the sequels were better but the art direction and attitude ticked lots of gamers off.

I actually prefered the combat style in SoT. It was way cool how you had the choice of collecting sand from fallen enemies using the dagger, or going for cool easy kill by freezing then slicing them in half, but getting no sand. This gave the combat an element of strategy. Collecting sand was necessary to use the cool time powers. The problem with WW and TTT, collecting sand was not at all strategic. You just automatically absorb them from dead enemies.

I don't understand the complaints either. The darker tone of WW made sense given the events of SoT, and the Dark Prince made sense given the events of WW. It felt like the developers actually continued a deeper story as opposed to rehashing the same game (SoT) over and over.

"The Two Thrones was alright, but the voice acting sucked, the narrative sucked, and I felt the dark prince was a gimmick." The Prince in TTT was voiced by the same actor who did the Prince in SoT. Ubisoft listened to the negative feedback on the WW Prince and reversed course. I agree that the Dark Prince parts were very bad. His life was always deteriorating and you had long segments of platforming where you had zero margin for error and would have to retry that part 30 times because you ran out of time (he dies if you don't find sand quick enough). Overall, if I had to rate the games, SoT=9.0, WW=6.0, TTT=8.0. Oh and PoP 2008 = 8.0.

I preferred the feel of the first game over the latter two. It just felt like Ubi was just trying to cash in with their "new, brooding" prince. I can get that type of character in almost any shooter I play, but I like to like the main character in my platformers. While WW, and TTT were better gameplay-wise, I just didn't connect with the atmosphere.

From my opinion,Warrior Within isn't so bad..It's just a little voice change and the game is as hard as hell. And the Two Thrones is as easy as 123 except for the boss.

There wasn't anything wrong with WW and TTT, it's just the prince was a lot darker and the fans didnt like it.

Some problems with WW were that it had horrible acting, cheesy generic battle music and it didn't feel as fresh as SoT. That I could forgive if the gameplay wasn't a complete chore. I never want to touch WW again after it made me repeat the same gameplay sections about 6 times. It wasn't even that fun the first time.

Terrible game.
