age of conan,i thought it would be something like gothic in online form, but yeah we all know how it ended up:P
I have a few.
MMORPG: Age of Conan, Warhammer Online
FPS: Modern Warfare 2 for the PC.
Strategy: Majesty 2.
Mine has to be MortalKombat Vs. DC Universe
it looked so good on gametrailers with all new free-fall kombat and klose-kombat
but it was very disappointing once i got home and played.the story was way too short. not enough fighters.and the ending was a let down
i even pre-ordered it :(
My biggest gaming letdown was with Panzer Elite Special Edition. I purchased the game, and the game does not play on my PC, which is a Core 2 Duo E8200 with 4 MB RAM, and an ordinary graphics card of NVIDIA 8400 series. How do I get the CD to install the game on my PC?
FIFA 10 on PS2, spend a whole season on that Be A Pro, and then you dont even get to play in the World Cup!!
It clearly says on the back of the case that you can make it to the World Cup :(
My biggest let down ever was Kingdom Hearts. I was looking soooooooo forward to it. It seemed like the most perfect game for me ever and I anticipated it forever. Then I played it, and it was one of the worst games I've played to this day. Boo.
Here's some hints.

There's more than one of it's kind.

IT'S GRAND THEFT AUTO 4

LegatoSkyheart
*mocks* because it was too realistic.
dead space for me. i expected something scary and original - i got a generic, linear, dull space game where you use a character with no personality trying to find characters with less personality.

Because they took out everything that was in SanAndreas.
I think this gen my biggest let down has been Fable II.
I loved the first one, but for some reason was not impressed by the second one.....esp the ending...
Halo 3: ODST. While the campaign was fun it was way short. Also no matchmaking for Firefight???!!! WTF???!!!
Resistance Fall of Man, I fell for the hype. I don't know why I didn't sell it sooner; after I beat the extremely short story once, I never played it again. (Except for when a friend wanted to try it.) It was so boring and I don't know why I kept playing it. And there was very little emphasis on the story.
This. I really wanted to like Spore, but it was far too linear and easy for it's own good. Other then that, probably the story in Modern Warfare 2 (protip, you can't fit a Tom Clancy story into 5-second cutscenes.)Spore, anyone?

I know i might get something said about this but........... I dare not say it.. Oh well why not MASS EFFECT.
This gen, probably Grand Theft Auto 4. When I first started playing it, I thought it was the greatest game ever. After a couple of days, I realised it took away everything that made San Andreas great as was mentioned earlier in this topic. It's still a pretty good game though.
A let down may not be right to say here. The only downside to ME1 as the weak wide missions. Hopefully thats fixed in ME2.I know i might get something said about this but........... I dare not say it.. Oh well why not MASS EFFECT.

I felt GTA4 was the best so far. I couldn't put it down. Id say the biggest let down was RE5This gen, probably Grand Theft Auto 4. [QUOTE="Racer850"]This generation would be Assassins creed 1, but AC2 is awesome :)Donhaz101Personally i dont like the Assassins creed sagas...but that is my opinuan:) I LOVED both the assassins creed games and thought they were brilliant :)
There's always a couple stinkers that work their way into the collection.
Dragon Age Origins is my most recent letdown of the year.
Grand Theft Auto 4 - I've already given it about 3 or 4 chances. It's just dull and boring. It feels like wii bowling, but after it has gotten played out beyond belief--you may pick it up and play it for 10 mins, but then..
Super Mario Sunshine - I think it's great nowadays, but when it landed I was a little underwhelmed.
Halo 2 - Oh wait, this one exceeded my expectations.
Kotor - It didn't feel like Star Wars and fiddled with the mythology too much. The game ran pretty slow as well.

What about Dragon Age was a let down. Personally it was one of my favorite games of all time. The final boss battle alone was incredible.

It's not that someone can't enjoy it, it's just that the game has NO character. It looks like a cookie cutter D&D pc rpg. Terrible direction imo.
