I believe that the one MMO that will put a stake into WoW and cause it to bleed out painfully until mmo death, will be WoW 2. Whenever WoW 2 comes, Blizzard will need to cut down on the amount of people they have working with WoW. So therefore, WoW 2, even if it sucky compared to WoW, will be getting alot more attention by their dev's and marketing. It happened with EQ and EQ2, it will more than likely happen with WoW. If they don't release some kind of updated sequel then of course they will die eventually.

I am sure they can keep WoW alive with expansions... I played the WoW trial and I thought it was "ok", but not worth $15 a month! Plenty of FREE MMORPG's.

At this point, the only thing that might kill WoW is time, and a lot of it. Like more than 20 years.

I'm guessing the meds the die hards end up on, after they realize the amount of time and money they've put into it. The game is very comparable to bad drug habits, imo.

To kill WoW, Blizzard should place billboards all over Azeroth reading "You're all a bunch of nerds. Go away".

Look at blizzards track record. Diablo 2 is still being played years and years later. Many have tried to rival WOW just to fail. Its so entrenched now and hard to compete with. Time eventually will kill it. But until something competes with it why would blizzard make WOW2 and compete with its own success.

A persistent MMO will be very very hard to kill. Runescape is still alive. Ultimate Online, which some new gamers these days would have never heard of, is still alive.. sort of. Those games have not been as successful as the giant that is WoW. For WoW to die it will take a new generation of MMOs as competitions of a different level and a very long time. Once WoW becomes unprofitable, only then will Activision Blizzard consider pulling the plug. Personally I think that it'd be far more likely that when WoW is finally outdated in its graphical aspect, Blizzard would just finally introduce a sequel with potential character carrying-over from original WoW. Frankly other than graphics there has not been any major evolution in the MMORPG genre.

I think an Oblivion MMO or SWTOR will kill it. SWTOR will have a much better story and an Oblivion MMO would have a million times better battle system and prolly a better story too. Not to mention the graphics

My guess would be that a MMO based on a popular subject, might grow big but right now nothing seems to be able to stop WoW.

The only things that could kill WOW is if the Internet died or the end of the world happened :P.

Probably WOW 2 and only they have to sabotage WOW to a degree that people just absolutely hate it. With 200 million dollars/month cash flow you are gonna see WOW at least another 15 years.

I never would've thought they would be making WOW 2. WoW is fine and bustling at the moment. If Blizzard do consider that route then things may actually go down for the historically fantastic company.

Why do people want WOW to die?

Keanu Reeves will think he needs to destroy it, but then realize that we just need to live and coincide with it.
