I'd probably quit gaming for a while.... Well it depends.
If all my gaming stuff got stolen (consoles, games, HDTV, etc) I'd quit for sure. If just my consoles got stolen, I could replace most of those 15 for cheap outside of my PS3, and 360. But the investment of buying next gen consoles + games+ tv would just be too much.
Well, I'm getting renter's insurance this week so as long as it happens after that I'd actually be ok with it. I have hundreds of games and like 9 systems, I've made many mistakes in the course of those purchases and I'd definitely do things differently. I'd have thousands of dollars to rebuild my collection from the rental insrance (though I'd doubt that I'd spend that much money at once so I'd build my collection up slowly probably and go on a vacation with that money, that's ok though, building the collection is half the fun anyways).
I'd probably do what I'm currently in the process of. I'm trying to get only the top games for each of the systems I own. (i.e. top 30 PS2 games, top 25 Xbox and GC games, top 20 Sega Genesis, SNES, Dreamcast, and PS1 games, top 15 TG-16, N64, and Saturn Games, and maybe top 5 games for the Sega CD, 32X, 3DO and Jaguar.) As of right now I have too many "ok" games that I know I'll never get around to playing (i.e. games like Hunter: The Reckoning for Xbox, Glover for N64, Smuggler's Run for PS2, and Star Wars Episode III for GBA, etc.). I mean those aren't bad games but I still haven't finished Ninja Gaiden for Xbox or Final Fantasy XII for PS2 or Eternal Darkness for GC. With AAA titles like those I'm never going to be able to touch "Glover" for the N64 unless I really forced myself to.
I would have to agree that losing my game collection would be far more devastating than losing the actual consoles.
Which reminds me of a time when I was away from home staying at my aunt's place while she was in Florida and someone broke into my apartment they stole my Xbox, PS1 and my GBA (luckily I took my GC & PS2 with me). lucky for me they didn't bother to take my games between (70-100) which were sitting right there in my living room.
