I honestly thought that thing was very stupid when it came out. I mean, why would you want to play with a 2 in. Game Boy with a tiny screen? There is a reason why it failed, hard.

i want to buy just so i can play fire emblem again, and it looks like the micro would be the sleekest, but a 2 in screen seems like it would be impossible to make anything out :/

If you want to play GBA games get a DS Lite. If you want to play GB, GBC, or GBA games get a SP.

It was never really popular. It played fewer games than any other GBA did and had a really tiny screen. not many people thought it would be worth picking up.

It came out after the DS did and cost nearly as much as the DS did. It was not backwards compatible with GB and GBC games. It had an awkard control design. It had a small screen. It was hard to link up with other GBA's. It was a waste of money.

In other words, it was a flop.

The small screen isn't actually bad. I own one and it was just as nice to look at as any DS screen (better than the old GBA SP screens).

But it came out after the DS, and cost $90-$100 with no GB B/C so why would anyone buy one? (I actually bought the a LE Famicom :)) But the question remains? WHY!!?!?!?!?!?! :P

The fact of the price and that the DS was out at the same time possibly contributed to its low sales, also Nintendo's promised support for the micro never surfaced, but I don't care, I wouldn't get rid of mine for a DS or PSP, they don't appeal to me in the slightest.

Very convenient device it is. It's light, cheap and for someone who rarely plays a compatible console, it's great. The reason I got it was for its size, money budget and only playing GBA games whenever I'm on holidays which is rare.

I had the special edition one that was red and gold, but I realized it was pointless and got rid of it. I kinda wish I still had it, it was pretty.

The main reason it never caught on was because it was released around the same time as the Nintendo DS.

Take a wiiiiiild guess as to which one people preferred more.

I got 2 of them recently. The layout may be fiddly but the screen is awesome. I prefer it to the SP.

It was pointless. It came out back when Nintendo thought they could get away with having the DS and GBA share the market so they priced the micro about the same as a DS. This was even more stupid when you took account the gimped screen size and lack of BC. So basically no one bought it except for collectors and people who didn't know any better. The only reason it's would be worth owning today is that it's probably the rarest GBA model out there and thus a bit of a conversation piece. Just how rare it is though is something I don't know, but I doubt it's so rare that it would be worth any significant amount of money.

It released around the same time as the DS and was completely pointless, that's what.

Nothing but an expensive keychain, in my opinion.

it was a milking product for Nintendo and it was more of a keychain GBA on the go. I ended up getting 2 refurbished - new looking ones from Gamestop last year for $35 each. Ordered replacement face plates from the nintendo online shop for $4 a piece.

Unfortunately, no.

Anyways, it failed really hard. Next to the Virtual Boy it was considered Nintendo's second failure of marketing.

it cost more, and the screen was smaller, for years everyone complained the original Gameboy had too small a screen. going back to that was a major mistake

It was a flop. Not only was the tiny screen a huge turn-off, but the fact that it was released AFTER all the game companies started making DS games instead of GBA ones... I just don't know what nintendo was thinking.

I got it only so that I could link it up to my Gamecube. Only to find that it wasn't able to do that. Which was disapointing to say the least.
