I honestly thought that thing was very stupid when it came out. I mean, why would you want to play with a 2 in. Game Boy with a tiny screen? There is a reason why it failed, hard.
It came out after the DS did and cost nearly as much as the DS did. It was not backwards compatible with GB and GBC games. It had an awkard control design. It had a small screen. It was hard to link up with other GBA's. It was a waste of money.
In other words, it was a flop.
The small screen isn't actually bad. I own one and it was just as nice to look at as any DS screen (better than the old GBA SP screens).
But it came out after the DS, and cost $90-$100 with no GB B/C so why would anyone buy one? (I actually bought the a LE Famicom :)) But the question remains? WHY!!?!?!?!?!?! :P
The fact of the price and that the DS was out at the same time possibly contributed to its low sales, also Nintendo's promised support for the micro never surfaced, but I don't care, I wouldn't get rid of mine for a DS or PSP, they don't appeal to me in the slightest.
I had the special edition one that was red and gold, but I realized it was pointless and got rid of it. I kinda wish I still had it, it was pretty.
The main reason it never caught on was because it was released around the same time as the Nintendo DS.
Take a wiiiiiild guess as to which one people preferred more.
its pretty cool for playing mario and stuff on an airplane or when you're waiting in line cuz it doesnt look like a game boy...but in practice it wasnt that great. screen's tiny and it only plays gba games...plus im not sure if anything like the e-reader or link cables are even compatible
It was pointless. It came out back when Nintendo thought they could get away with having the DS and GBA share the market so they priced the micro about the same as a DS. This was even more stupid when you took account the gimped screen size and lack of BC. So basically no one bought it except for collectors and people who didn't know any better. The only reason it's would be worth owning today is that it's probably the rarest GBA model out there and thus a bit of a conversation piece. Just how rare it is though is something I don't know, but I doubt it's so rare that it would be worth any significant amount of money.
little over 2.5 million its rarer than a sega saturn at 10 million(rarest console i own)It was pointless. get a gbasp#2 because that has a back lit screen rather than front lit and it looks as good as a ds screen so get that

also it can play original gameboy and bameboy color games! which the micro cant
It released around the same time as the DS and was completely pointless, that's what.
Nothing but an expensive keychain, in my opinion.
Hmm... Did it actually work as a key chain?[QUOTE="MrDziekuje"]

Unfortunately, no.
Anyways, it failed really hard. Next to the Virtual Boy it was considered Nintendo's second failure of marketing.

actually the VB sold only 750K vs the gbm at 2.5 millionit cost more, and the screen was smaller, for years everyone complained the original Gameboy had too small a screen. going back to that was a major mistake
