What do all of you think is the next bing thing for gaming? what will be after xbox 360 and ps3? do you think that graphics can get better or do you think they will change the whole idea of video games? i think that it will turn more towards virtual reality with screens all around so it feels more like you are in the game. what do you think??

Graphically, I don't think that there is too much that can be improved (technically speaking). I mean, we've almost reached the limit on realistic human models. Trying to go any further will send us into the Uncanny Valley, a mental phenomena where the viewer notices more and more things wrong as something grows closer to complete realism.

Great question. I think about this all the time, but I just don't know.

Graphics have come a long way but also have a long ways to go. Although games these days look fairly close to the real-world they still don't behave like it in the slightest. There's no molecular structure, no properties, nothing. It's just a bunch of polygons with painted on colour and texture.

So I'd except to seethat change in the future, though it will make the whole process of making games all the more difficult. What happens to a design when walls can be destroyed? What kinds of calculations are we talking about and conversely how will it all be developed?

Graphically, I think that there's still plenty of room for improvements! I mean, looking at Crysis and real-life pictures... There are some obvious differences. As for the "virtual reality" that you stated, Nitendo will be the first one to achieve that... Not with screens all around though.

Battlefield Bad company supposedly has destructable environments. RTS already have destructable environments (WiC, CoH etc)
