^ Exactly there is to many awesome character that is impossible to make just one a mascot for playstation. I have a playstation 2 and there were so many awesome charcaters such as Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, God of War unlike other consoles which kind of lack amazing characters but still have great games.
For the PS3, as opposed to just Sony's gaming department in general, it would be that chick from Heavenly Sword. At least until MGS4 comes out, even if it is bad.
The Playstation never had a single mascot, like Mario or Sonic: they cyclically proposed/imposed temporary models to different target audiences (Crash, Lara Croft, Solid Snake, Grand Theft Auto's punks...). This is due to the PS being the 'pop' console by definition (adapting to a society with quickly changing tastes) and also to the fact Sony doesn't really possess any creativity to speak of.
