And if you don't like it, prepare to get loads of flaming from anyone you tell (this applies mostly to people like the idio- guy who posted just above me.
tons of stuff to do(even if theyare boring). Its the easy way to impress people,(especially non gamers)."wow this game has 1000 quests and needs 300 hours to be finished".
It's large. The first dragon fight is pretty cool, too. What else, um...the face modelling tools are quite well done?
I love the being able to pretty much go anywhere and do anything in the game. I really enjoy the sword and sorcery aspect as well as dragons. The game looks very impressive graphically given it's scale and has an excellent ochestral soundtrack. I also love how 'alive' the game feels with how everyone and everything behaves in the game world.Archangel3371
What, extremely glitchy and unrealistic?
The game is soooo Bethesda
i'll just go with this statement......no wonder skyrim sucked...It's the second sequel to Morrowind. ;)

No glitches for me yet (about 100hrs), and the block and swing melee system is the most realistic out there... Try harder next time ;) EDIT: Well, no glitches besides the Breezehome bookshelf =P[QUOTE="Ilovegames1992"][QUOTE="Archangel3371"]I love the being able to pretty much go anywhere and do anything in the game. Its beautiful to look at and is immersive with a nice level up system but it should have in no way won GotY and is not a patch on its predecessor.

Fair enough, everyone has their own opinion afterall. But I'm just wondering, what glitches have you run into? Besides crashing to the desktop twice, the bookcase in the Breezehome is the only glitch that i've encountered personally...[QUOTE="Ilovegames1992"][QUOTE="superclocked"]No glitches for me yet (about 100hrs), and the block and swing melee system is the most realistic out there... I had to restart the game 20 minutes earlier into the final Thieves Guild/Nocturne quest for instance, just recently.
I must say it is addicting though and i still have it...
Although i am very bitter towards Skyrim as Shadomere died on me recently.
Huge open world full of possibilities, great graphics, great mods, fantastic gameplay (except for combat), great rpg elements.
I dont think anybody wants to explain it in detail.
Watch some videos & reviews, read some articles/previews to get a sense of why & then play the game yourself. You will either immediately be insanely amazed once the world opens up to you or . . . . . you will be back here saying " What's so amazing about Skyrim "LOL.
What's amazing about it is that it has such a huge following. Oblivion was a big step back from Morrowind, and Skyrim is a step sideways from Oblivion. Stop creating large open world games until you can create one that isn't virtually empty, can create characters you can remotely care about, and can make the player feel like a true part of the world as opposed to a floating camera with a sword and shield attached.RandoIphtranslation: Best. Game. Ever.

Hey, i wept like a baby when Shadowmere died.
Although its definitely the most overrated game of the year/past few years.

I second thisIts a game where you actually feel like your in the world, living it in actually and the people you meet feels like you are actually communicating with them. You are immersed in conflicts within the world whether big of small. Also this is the first ES game where I didn't want to fast travel anywhere.godfather_1I had the opposite experience. I felt detached and out of place. Like a floating camera with weapons attached to it. The communication I had with the NPCs felt disjointed and unnatural, like I was speaking to robots. Robots who had no idea who I was, even though I was a dragon god killing warrior donning a full set of armor worth more than all of their collective lives and property combined who would literally spit fire and summon thunderstorms and Dragons to kill those who opposed me... or even look at me funny. Also, all the conflicts were small. Even the two major battles in either side of the civil war felt more like a skirmish than a war. A dozen or so people do not make an army.
Its one of kind. There isn't any game that accomplishes the level of detail and overall polish in this theme and genre. Its very accessible to the gamers who are not familiar with the games of this type. There is a lot to do and explore. Some folks may differ in what makes the game so amazing but most generally stems from this.
I also don't understand what's so great about it.
It's Oblivion with better graphics...And dragons.
But people are all like "OMG A NEW ELDER SCROLLS GAME! I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS IT HAS TO BE GOOD!!!" They trick themselves into thinking it's so much better than Oblivion.

So the people who like the game are fooling themselves......RIGHT :|
For me, it's the sense of an open world, with pretty authentic settings. I much prefer it over Oblivion because of the huge tall mountains in the backround pretty much everywhere you look. Combine that with some awesome gameplay mechanics, great enemies, and an amazing soundtrack, it makes for a good game, at least for me. I haven't played it for a couple weeks, but when I get into it, I play it for hours at a time for days at a time.
There's nothing good about Skyrim. People seem to think that wrapping a nugget of turd with excessive amounts of shiny foil will change the object held in their hands.
Skyrim is a good game. But It's far from being a great game, I just dont understand these dick riders...
The funny thing is, I own Skyrim and have barely touched it. Too many games I need to play through first, but from the time I had with it, I hate that a lot of quests get piled up on you already and although I never tried out the PS3 version, I have heard from multiple people and sources that both versions, moreso of the PS3 version than with the 360 version, that the game is buggy and glitched beyond all hell. That's no surprise to me, since Bethesda has an excellent track record of releasing their products without fully being tested for any mistakes and fixing them until way later. But what is surprising to me is how all of these game journalism sites, all these awards shows, etc can give such a flawed, buggy, glitchy game like Skyrim GOTY. That f******* bothers the hell out of me.
Ever notice how OP's threads are just simple questions and he then disappears without a trace in sight? I find it funny. It's like trolling but it aint. Genius.

On topic, the game doesn't appeal to me. I can play it for free with my bro's copy but I still don't wanna. I don't get the point of never-ending games like Little Big Planet, The Sims, and Animal Crossing. Atleast Sim City drops you in different scenarios and you can stop once you know you've beaten the challenge. Man I miss those SNES days.
I've got nearly 200 hours with the game, and still areas I have not explored yet. I still haven't even reached level 50. But my gameplay style may be different than others. My primary interest is simply exploring and adventuring, not seeing how fast I can discover all the caves and how fast I can max out all the skills. Still to this day when I fire the game up, it is so easy to start a new adventure where something happens that I haven't quite seen before. The amount of content in this game blows away all ES games before it, and nearly most any other RPG for that matter.

Lol,i post almost every day,i just don't make new threads here often.
I gotta try the game sometime....it looks so big and amazing.
And thanks.
:P
The combat is repetitive, many of the caves and tombs are unremarkable, a lot of the quests are just mediocre, too many of the quests can be broken too easily, the vast majority of the loot is worthless, and the main storyline is just okay.
But I still played it every day since Christma, put a little over 100 hours into it, finished every major questline (except the Companions because of one broken quest), completed scores of miscellaneous quests, leveled to 45, and had to force myself to stop completing more quests so that I could move on to other games.
Even with all its problems, I still LOVED almost every minute that I played, barring the two or three times that I had to figure out workarounds for poorly scripted quests.
So what's great about Skyrim is that there are just enough amazing moments to string you along through the less amazing ones. Some of the quests are incredibly entertaining, others are mysterious enough to really keep you wanting to know more, and others are just fun. The mediocre quests just exist for leveling up without having to grind through stuff you've already completed or random enemies in the wild, so they feel worthwhile even though you're not actively thinking about how great the quest is.
