^ Nothing sad about that, it's a fantastic THPS game. One of the best ones.

My favortie THPS game last-gen was Tony Hawk's Underground. I just loved the freedom of the game and the ability to free-roam areas and explore or just do tricks; and being able to choose "missions" when you felt like it. The whole game felt more like a professional skateboarding career rather than just completing areas or levels, to me.

I'd say the first THPS was probably my favorite one, too. Just because it had the biggest impact on me as it was the first THPS game I ever played, I loved the addition of ACTUAL record-label music in the game, and it definetly holds a nostalgic piece of my heart. But I didn't mention it because he asked which previous gen Tony Hawk game.

I fealt that THPS3 was the zenith of the series and then it gradually gor worse and worse after that. Not to say the fourth and underground were bad, just not as good imo.

The first three games were the best, and then everything went downhill from there. THPS4 was cool, but I did not like how each level had a competition in it. My character would slide out of bounds after crashing, and then I would have to restart the whole thing all over.

I think THPS3 would be in my Top 10 of all time. Might have to get to work on it.

Underground without a doubt. The first one tho. The second one was good, but it felt like it was missing something that the first one had. I didn't like how they increased the whackiness factor.

Completely agree. Underground 1 gave me many many hours of enjoyment :). And I could easily have a blast playing HORSE again.

Tony Hawk's Underground is the best. THUG is when the series plateaued and from THUG 2 on the series slowly went downhill.

THUG is when they got everything right.

The ability to get on and off your skateboard to walk around was a big improvement because it made getting around easier.

The story mode was a great addition. I really enjoyed experiencing the journey of a skater who's trying to make a career out of skating.

The level design is top-notch.

The soundtrack is excellent.

Create a park was mad fun because of all the options.

Create a mission was a cool, but not completely necessary addition.

There's so much to do in that game.

Granted THUG 2 and THAW had just about all THUG 1 had and a little bit more, but I think the level design and story in THUG 1 were the best.

Either THPS 2 or THPS 3 imo, although the Ps1 and Ps2 versions of THPS 3 were slightly different which was odd.

I think a lot of people are missing the "previous gen" part of the title of this thread.

Shenmue_Jehuty

Definitely, THPS3 was just a revolution. The later ones were ok, but it was obvious the 1 year time limit was straining Neversoft when they started making big mistakes in polish and mechanics, and sometimes they just didn't "feel" right.

THPS4 was great, but the graphics made the talking characters not move their mouths, and the soundtrack didn't seem as fit for some skating around. THUG had a cool story focus and the ability to get off your board, but the driving was lame and it was shorter and easier than earlier titles. THUG 2 had a ton of content and let you play as both yourself and pros or hidden skaters in it's various modes, but it was WAY too wacky and just went too gonzo.
