Because...
it's too mushy.

Oh? That was what I loved the most about FF VIII. I love a good romance story in an RPG.

You're kididng right?
Wizardry IV: Return of Werdna has to qualify as the all time hardest RPG I ever played.
I thought RPG's in the 80's were generally more difficult than they were today. Most games weren't as well balanced as they were today and you had to spend a lot more time levelling up. And often you had to solve riddles and puzzles that you couldn't just google for. I remember spending hours and hours trying to solve a simple stupid riddles in the Bard's Tale series. (No clues were given you just had to know the answer to the riddle)
SMT:Nocturne probablymorph_basic
This and Persona 3: FES, The Answer (2nd part of the game), grinding was useless, everything bosses could take for damage, they had the ability to dodge..
Hardest for me was getting a 100% perfect game on the import version of FF X. This includes all the monster bosses, max stats, full grid, unlocked ultimate weapons ( lightning dodges ftl ), all the dark aeons, and beating Penance who pretty much requires max everything to even bother trying. Alter_EchoYeah.....one of those ultimate monsters from the Monster trainer that looked like Sin or something....yeah...I watched my brother play the NTSC version with everyone at 99999 HP, 9999 MP and giving 99999 damage with attacks, all aeons (never knew about dark aeons), weapons, and everything else... and he still got owned.
Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter. That game was so (intentionally) hard it is designed for you to die and start over (as in from the beginning) as you could restart the game and maintain your character levels. I've yet to beat the game but I will give it another shot in the future and beat it no matter how long it takes.

I find todays games to be much harder than the ones in the 80s. In the 80s and early 90s, a game can be beaten if I really try hard enough. Today, I can't do it without a Gameshark. Also, I simply don't have the hours of time needed to power up my player.
Yeah not to mention getting Ivan's ultimate weapon was really annoying.
For those of you that haven't played in order to get his weapon you had to go to the top of the final dungeon before you fought the boss and run around getting into random battles. If you were really lucky you would fight a specific group of enemies and they would drop the weapon. But the chances of that were only five percent even when you fought that group of enemies. Imagine how annoyed I was when my friend got it in his first battle in that dungeon:cry:

Well, if it's something like between Tifa vs Aerith plus Cloud than it's ok. But Rinoa and Squall all the way is too much for me. Dunno...it's kinda hard for me to explain because it's totally subjective.
HAH! You wanna know a freakin hard that can be borderline ridiculous one? Demon's Souls. I am going on 12 hours, 1 broken control and about 4 vicodens.
Go play Demon's Souls. If you haven't shot yourself, broken your monitor with your controller, or thrown your ps3 out the window with yourself, come back and reply rofl.
Do you mean hard or cheap? The latter goes to The 7th Saga, due to the excessive amounts of level grinding, hard was Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.Video_Game_King
Agreed! I actually restarted my game in the middle of it because the elf kept killing me when I tried to gether rune.

If The Answer is as hard as I'm hearing it is, I'm thinking I might just skip it and go straight to Persona 4. Or just watch all of the cutscenes on Youtube. Please Log In to post.
