what's the last game you picked up that was out of place

I'm talking about a type of game that you don't normally play. But you had some friends or the roommate or anything convince you to pick up the newest one. For example I don't really like sports games I'm not a big fan of playing them but a friend of mine convinced me to pick up the new Madden 15.

knowing this ain't the first time I picked up a game that was out of place. I was wondering if anybody else does this?

Minecraft. I normally despise tool-set games like The Sims or anything that makes me have to "build" the game I wanna play, but it's something I play with my girlfriend whenever we wanna just unwind from the day and have a little fun creating homes and stuff.

GTA V

NFL Blitz. I hate football, but NFL Blitz is fun as hell.

Maybe DayZ? I don't like multiplayer games in general (and despise MMOs) but the way it utilized it was brilliant. It's the sole MMO I own and play on a consistent basis.

FFXIV ARR. Don't normally play MMOs and truth be told I didn't much enjoy my time with this game either. I just don't like MMO battle systems.

The Forest. Not really from a friend but forums and at £10.99 I thought why not.

Max Payne 3

Rayman Legends is the most Recent one.

It wasn't even a friend who turned me to it. My friends have terrible taste in games.

homefront psx 3 version for 6 euro

bought civilization revolution on the 360 this weekend. an rts game on a console is something i've never even contemplated before (tbf there's not really an abundance of them). got home to find it has some really good reviews. the screenshots on the box look a bit like "my-first-strategy-game" but i'm actually quite looking forward to giving it a go

First truly "into it" MMO, Firefall. I usually play a mixed bag of PC and console games - more that are easy to pick-up and play, mostly arcade. With Firefall it's both an FPS and an MMO that's not my usual, but damn, I got sucked into it.

Out of place? Maybe Firefall, especially it being an MMO...since most of the Sci-Fi stuff I play have been WarHammer 40k all the way, for the past 2 years.

@agethe6: Sure, I use to buy sport games when my best friend was alive because that is what he liked, and I did also, but he was more into them. It was fun to have the competition, and relate to someone about something you both enjoy. He enjoyed the sports games more, but I enjoyed his company, and playing video games.

I guess I took kind of a leap of faith with Persona 4 Golden over a year ago. It's definitely part of a genre that I haven't really touched, like at all. But luckily I really enjoyed it and highly look forward to the next game. And I also have Persona 3 Portable waiting to be played that I nabbed for $5. But yeah, I generally stick with what I know and what I'm comfortable with.

Does playing in behalf of someone counts? If so, i guess Firefall counts. I'm from Skyrim.

I hate to break this to you since you already purchased it but Civ Rev is a strategy game, not an RTS. It's a really fun game but not an RTS.

It didn't seem like a typo. 'rtd' instead of 'rts' is a typo. You mentioned the completely wrong genre. I was trying to help. Calm down dude.
