A bad auction on Ebay?

A bad trade in at Gamestop?

Realized later that you over paid for a game?

Realized you gave away or sold a game that was worth more then you thought?

Paid $60 for a brand new game that took you seconds to realize you wasted your money?

I always ended up selling my video games and consoles as a kid at the end of each generation to get cash to pay for the newer games or the next big console. I sold my Sega Genesis (model 1) to a friend for $5 because I thought it was literally worthless compared to my new N64. I also sold plenty of used games to Gamestop, traded in systems for chump change only to realize one day that it wasn't worth it.

I also messed up by selling some PS2 games once through ebay. I sold GT3 and a few other titles for under $5 each. I charged $3 for shipping on each one. I went to UPS to ship them, and had to pay about $8 to ship them through UPS ground. I basically gave the games away and wasted time selling and shipping them. I could have come out ahead if I just threw them away. I didn't realize till after that the Post office has MUCH BETTER shipping costs.

What about you?

Most of it has to do with Gamestop/EB. Things such as me selling 45 Xbox games, 15 PS2 games, and a fat PS2 and them giving me $130 in 2006...baaaad deal there.

But there are good deals as well. I sold an English copy of DragonBall GT: Final Bout for the PS1 (1000 were made or so) for $300 to Gameswap, also I think I got $60 for a black label copy of FF7 to Gameswap. Not surprisingly, Gameswap went under not long after I sold those...

How about a close call ?? Bought Dark Messiah for 360 the day it came out.......was not a very good game and after 4 days I took it back to Gamestop to sell, but they were only going to give me 14 dollars. I am like are you kidding, I just bought this game less than a week ago for 60 bucks ?? He said sorry but I can go up to 20 bucks if you take credit to buy something else. I said no thanks and split. I sold it to my roommate for 30 bucks.....is that bad ??

I bought a used PS2 right after they came out from my friends shady grandfather for $200. It got the famous DRE a little over a month later and obviously I had no place to return it to or anything, so I was stuck with it. I was about 17 at the time with no job, so $200 was a huge deal.

Paying full price for Soul Nomad(ps2). That game turned out to be pure garbage and not even close to Disgaea or Ogre Battle. I guess if you dont get games from your local video store you should try to look up gameplay video's on youtube or something.

My brother sold my entire Sega Genesis collection (Genesis, 32X adapter, two controllers, and 60+ games) for about $20 to some guy at a garage sale. I was so mad at him that day, but he thought that I didn't want it anymore since I had a Dreamcast at the time. He gave me the $20 at least.

Probably the worst deal ended up when I purchased a scratched up version of MVP Baseball '05. I didn't know it was scratched in the first place, and it made the game virtually unplayable, even with the assitance of the disc doctor. But what made the deal worse was when I went to trade it in. They wouldn't let me get a new copy for free since they did sell me a damaged copy. So I had to pay double the amount just to get the game. Btw, this was at Gamecrazy.

Gamestop gave me $3 (USD) for Zoocube when it was still selling for $50. Although, that is the worst game I've ever played so I wasn't too broken up about it. hell, I didn't pay for it.

I had the original GameBoy printer in it's original box and this local shop wanted to give me $4 for it  I laughed in his face and told him it's worth atleast $100 (it's become scarce).

Also, when I was younger my mom decided to sell my NES collection (almost 100 games!!! #$%@!) for a measly $40 because I got a Super Nintendo..what a jip!

Best deal was a Vectorman 1 and 2 lot, Factory sealed for $20

Rule #1
Never trade in games at Game Stop, Game Crazy or EB Games. Try to find a friend to sell it to or just keep the game.

Dad sold my Sega Genesis and Sega CD at a garage sale for 15$. I'm not sure if he sold my old Atari though. It could be somewhere in the house but I really don't care about it. I did mention it's the 5200 right?

Worst deal I got was because of my own stupidity.

I saw an auction for Atari Kart for Atari Jaguar, normally if you find the game with box and book it will sell from 80-120ish,

The auction had a buy it now of 59.99USD, showed the box and the book and they were in perfect and practically new condition.

Used the buy it now, arrived at my place and the auction was for just the box and book.

Although It worked out as a few month later I bought a lot of Jaguar carts, and after I won the seller offered me a few more that he had found laying around for another ten bucks and one of them was Atari Kart.

This one has to be, hands down, the worst. I was the one who made out like a bandit in this situation, but this deal is so bad I have to mention it.

Back when the Star Wars CCG came out (right around the initial release of the PSX) I managed to get my hands on all of the main characters (Han, Luke, Leia, Darth Vader, etc) and we played the game a ton. Well, my buddy bought about as many packs as me and couldn't get the characters, so he came up to me one day and offered me a deal for my entire collection.

For my entire collection of Star Wars CCG (this was before any expansions, just the initial main set) he offered me a Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X and about 30 games (mostly Sega CD, but some solid Genesis). It included: Night Trap, Double Switch, the arcade CD collection (Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Columns, Altered Beast, etc.), Sewer Shark, Sonic the Hedgehog games, Sonic CD, and many many more. Back in 1990 or 1991, this was an incredible deal. I still can't believe it happened and in making this trade I sealed the fact that I wasn't a good friend. I've since learned my lesson.

For me it would either be

Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past with orignal box, game, map and manual for $75 canadian roughly. Except the manual is missing a staple so the pages tend to almost fall out if not careful. The box is slightly bumped and rubbed in spots but I don't care about that. The map however was one key aspect I wanted intact and the pictures he had did not show writing on the map so I was angry with the guy :/

or

Going to pawn shops to find a Orignal PS1 about a month and a half ago jsut when MGS Essentials was released (because I prefer playing MGS 1 ona real PS1 xP) And everywhere offered the machine (first model of PS1) over $50 highest wanted $120 XDD so I picked up the one for $50 along with a memory card and controller and talked down the price of 2 Sega gamegears and both sonic games to $40 so it was worthwhile I think. But anyways when I got home the PS1 could only read music discs nothing else. So I spent time with a Q-tip in desperation carefully cleaning the lens for about 5-10 mins and now it plays fine about 95% of the time. Just has random disc searching icons that pop up every so so during a cinematic.

I went to see how much Independance Day was worth. It was for the PS1, EB Games was about to offer me .25 cents for it and this was like 4 years ago lol

Then recently I called to ask how much a PSP would be worth just for kicks since my friend and I were talking about this very topic and EB said they would pay $50 for a near mint PSP

Long story short, sell your stuff on ebay.

Trading games in a store, just in general. I used to do it a bit but since learnt my leson, now I don't bother. Even if I don't want the game I might aswell kepp it than get the money which wont do much for me.
